Chapter 254

She smiled, her eyes curving into crescents. "Anna, you have to help me. It's rare for me to like someone this much."

"I don't want to get involved in this sort of thing. You should put in the effort yourself." Anna Ross pressed her lips together. She had never done anything like this growing up. She simply wasn't cut out for it.

Mia Lawrence fell silent for a moment. She ran over and grabbed Anna's hand. "You don't have any feelings for him, do you?"

"What nonsense are you thinking?" Anna gently tapped her forehead. "I've always seen him as an older brother. He only sees me as a little sister. You can relax."

Mia leaned against her shoulder affectionately. "That's good. Knowing that, I can pursue him without holding back."

They reached a fork in the road. Mia held onto her hand reluctantly. "By the way, Anna, since Sophia isn't around, come sleep at my place tonight. We haven't chatted in so long. I've missed you terribly."

Anna nodded. "Okay. I've missed you too."

Sophia had been staying with her recently. She really hadn't seen Mia in a long time. This was a rare opportunity, and she was happy about it.

It worked out perfectly that Sophia wasn't home. She didn't have to worry about anything.

She glanced toward the building where she lived. Then she followed Mia in the opposite direction. Her glance was too quick. She didn't notice the light shining from her apartment window.

Adrian Sinclair sat on the sofa. A key rested on the coffee table. He had specifically kept one for himself when he asked Noah to prepare the apartment.

He looked around the once simply decorated space. It had now completely transformed into a warm little nest. Every corner radiated the feeling of home.

This sensation made him relax. He leaned back on the sofa, lost in thought. His gaze fell on a photo on the nearby cabinet. He stood up and picked it up.

It was a picture of Anna and Vivian. In the photo, Anna was smiling, her eyes curved like crescent moons.

Adrian's fingers traced the photo. The corners of his mouth lifted unconsciously.

He had seen a smile like that before. It was truly beautiful. . . .

He put the photo down. His eyes moved to the tightly shut bedroom door. A slight frown touched his brow. Why wasn't she back yet? It was so late.

Anna was currently lying in bed with Mia. They had turned off the lights and were whispering secrets. They talked until the moon hung high in the sky before finally falling into a deep sleep.

Both of them had to get up early for work. The next morning, she headed straight back after getting up.

She was startled to see the man standing downstairs. She lightened her steps, hoping to sneak past him quietly.

Adrian spotted the sneaky figure out of the corner of his eye. He quickly stepped forward. "Why didn't you come home last night?"

Anna responded flatly. "You're overstepping. That's my own business. Besides, it's strange for you to be here this early."

Adrian's eyes drifted elsewhere. He cleared his throat softly. "I have urgent business with you."

He had slept on the sofa all night. His whole body felt uncomfortable now.

He looked down at her sleepy face. His voice softened. "Go get ready quickly. Then come to work with me. I'll wait for you."

Anna thought his expression seemed off. But she couldn't quite place why. She remained silent and walked around him upstairs.

Adrian watched her go up. His mood instantly improved. Judging by the direction she came from, she must have stayed at Mia's place last night.
