Chapter 275
"I will only say this once. Stay away from her." Adrian Sinclair's voice was icy, his eyes frosted over with cold fury. "Or I won't hesitate to show you no mercy."
Chloe Valentine had never seen him look so terrifying. His gaze seemed capable of devouring her whole.
She shrank back, shoulders hunching slightly, forcing a facade of calm. "Adrian, I truly don't understand what you're talking about. I was worried about what happened today too, but it really had nothing to do with me. I don't know how things turned out this way."
Adrian frowned, turning his side to her, and walked straight to his car.
He glanced up at the tall building. Someone dared to touch what was his. It seemed they found life in New York too comfortable.
Chloe bit her lip hard. She couldn't understand it. What was so special about that Anna Ross? Why did every man orbit around her!
If Lucas hadn't shown up and ruined everything, Adrian would have witnessed the entire spectacle firsthand today. What a pity...
And that Julian Garnache. How was he connected to her? They looked so intimate. Did he like her too?
It was infuriating. How did she deserve so much attention?
Just as Chloe was fuming, her face turning pale with anger, Adrian impatiently honked the horn. She hurried over and got into the car.
If it didn't work this time, there would be a next. She refused to believe Anna could always escape unscathed.
In the vast expanse of New York, the sunset was slowly sinking. Pale golden afterglow spread across the clouds, draping the entire city in a layer of gold. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Anna leaned back in the passenger seat, turning to look at the scenery outside the window. Exhaustion was written all over her face.
In the past, she would have taken out her phone to capture this stunning moment. But now, she just felt tired. Utterly drained, both physically and mentally.
All she wanted right now was to go home, take a good shower, and wash away everything that happened today.
Julian glanced at her, concern etching his features. "Anna, are you sure you're alright? You don't look well."
Though he didn't know what happened upstairs, seeing her like this pained him. He always saw Anna as a younger sister.
Anna turned her head weakly, every movement sapping the last of her strength. Her chapped lips made her frown slightly, but she still whispered, "I'm fine. I just need to rest."
She looked down at the bruise on her wrist and silently covered it with her sleeve. The place on her face where she'd been hit still throbbed faintly. Thankfully, she'd bought some medicine at the pharmacy and applied it, which had provided some relief.
Julian knew her temperament and didn't press further. He nodded, changing the subject. "By the way, I saw Chloe Valentine with Adrian earlier. Do you know what their relationship is?"
"Chloe Valentine?" Anna didn't look up, her voice flat.
Julian's eyes flickered. He gave a light laugh. "Yeah."
Anna looked at him. After a moment of silence, a faint smile tugged at her lips. "They're probably getting married soon."
Even she was surprised by the strange feeling in her chest when she said those words. It was as if she was unwilling to acknowledge a certain truth, yet that was exactly what it was.
Julian seemed slightly taken aback but quickly returned to normal. He chuckled softly. "I should have guessed." She was always an ambitious woman.
