Chapter 177

"Anna, are you asleep? I wanted to say thank you..."

Sophia Roscente pushed the door open with a smile, then her eyes widened in shock.

She quickly covered her eyes.

"I'm sorry! I didn't see anything!"

Sophia turned and ran, rushing all the way back to her room.

She pounded her pillow in frustration.

Why did she have to walk in on that?

Of all things, her cousin's private moment.

This is bad.

He definitely won't let this go easily.

Sophia felt like crying.

The intimate atmosphere in the room was abruptly shattered.

Anna Ross pushed the person on top of her away and pulled the covers tightly around herself.

Her cheeks burned as she bit her lower lip hard.

She wished she could disappear into the floor.

Thankfully Sophia closed the door quickly.

Now it was just the two of them.

Adrian Sinclair adjusted his collar with a dark expression.

His cousin had perfect timing.

She showed up at the worst possible moment.

He cast a cold glance at the blanket-covered form on the bed.

"Stop hiding."

"Do you really think I'd do anything to you in front of her?"

Anna peeked out with half her face visible.

She immediately met his intense gaze.

She retreated back under the covers.

She didn't believe him.

This man was unpredictable. Who knew when he might suddenly go crazy?

Staying wrapped up was safest.

Footsteps suddenly approached.

Adrian had returned.

Anna shrank back in fear.

"What are you doing back!?"

Her voice trembled.

The man pulled the covers aside and dragged her forward.

His long fingers lifted her chin.

"If you agreed to be my mistress, stop trying to run away."

His voice was low, carrying an undeniable pressure.

Anna's heart pounded like a drum.

Even at a time like this, he was still thinking about that.

She lowered her lashes and whispered, "I understand."

Adrian released her, his expression softening slightly.

Anna quietly shifted toward the edge of the bed.

"You and Miss Valentine are getting married soon, right?"

"If she finds out about me, it probably wouldn't be appropriate."

Her voice was soft, carrying a bitterness she didn't even notice herself.

Adrian frowned.

"Who said anything about marriage?"

He studied her, curiosity in his eyes.

Anna looked up, meeting his gaze directly.

"That day I called you, Miss Valentine answered."

"She said you were discussing wedding plans."

"You let her answer on purpose, didn't you? To show me your marriage is approaching?"

The more she spoke, the more upset she felt. Her fingertips dug deeply into her palms.

Adrian paused for a moment.

Watching her jealous expression, he suddenly chuckled low.

So she could be jealous over him.
