Chapter 231
Anna Ross remained silent.
She let him pull her into the bar.
Julian Garnache was sitting at the bar counter, mixing drinks.
His slender fingers held the shaker.
His movements were skilled and fluid.
Anna quickly shook off Adrian Sinclair's hand.
Afraid of causing any misunderstanding.
Adrian's palm was suddenly empty.
His eyes darkened instantly.
Julian noticed her from the corner of his eye.
He immediately put down his tools.
He walked over with a smile.
He naturally put his arm around her shoulder.
"Anna, come try the drink I just made."
He led her toward the bar.
Completely ignoring the man beside her.
Adrian's gaze turned icy.
He stared intently at the hand on her shoulder.
Anna dodged away first.
Quickly stepping aside.
Julian was taken aback.
He looked at his empty arm.
Then at Anna, who was now two meters away.
He couldn't help but laugh.
"What's wrong? Such a big reaction."
"This isn't like you."
Anna took a deep breath.
Adrian's expression had been terrifying.
She had no doubt something would have happened the next second.
"Julian, I'm not really good with alcohol."
"Thank you for the offer."
She forced a smile.
But the corners of her mouth felt stiff.
Julian patted his forehead.
"Look at my memory."
"You mentioned it during dinner last time."
He shook his head regretfully.
Anna quickly said it was fine.
She didn't want to dwell on the topic.
Julian finally noticed Adrian.
He studied him carefully.
He felt somewhat familiar.
But couldn't place him right away.
Adrian grew impatient under his gaze.
His brow furrowed slightly.
His eyes grew colder.
Julian greeted him proactively.
"Hey, have we met before?"
Anna hurriedly explained.
"He's my boss."
"You saw him during dinner last time."
She secretly observed Adrian's expression.
Sure enough, he looked displeased again.
Julian suddenly understood.
Then he asked curiously.
"Aren't you working at the bar?"
"How did he become your boss?"
Anna answered softly.
"I only work here part-time at night."
"I'm his executive assistant during the day."
A hint of helplessness flashed in her eyes.
Adrian caught her expression.
He didn't understand why she had to be so stubborn.
She didn't need to work here at all.
Yet she showed no intention of stopping.
The music from the dance floor was deafening.
The crowd around them cheered.
But the three of them were lost in their own thoughts.
Out of place in the lively atmosphere.
Julian looked at her with concern.
The lively, smiling girl from his memories.
Now showed no trace of happiness.
She must be facing some difficulties.
But with Adrian present.
He swallowed his questions.
Anna clenched her fingers silently.
She just wanted to earn more money.
To pay off Howard Lowell's debt as soon as possible.
That way, she could truly be free.
No longer under anyone's control.
