Chapter 401

The flight was rather dull.

Anna Ross flipped through a magazine to pass the time.

She gradually grew drowsy.

She leaned back in her seat and drifted into a hazy sleep.

She woke again as the plane touched down.

Adrian Sinclair was retrieving their luggage.

Seeing her awake, he urged, "Time to go."

Anna glanced around.

They were the only two left in the cabin.

After disembarking,

a vehicle was already waiting outside.

It was a black business van.

Two men in black suits and sunglasses stood beside it.

They immediately approached to greet Adrian.

Adrian was accustomed to this.

Anna, however, was inwardly astonished.

The world of the wealthy was truly different.

Once inside the van,

the men in black conversed with Adrian in a foreign language.

Though not a language major, Anna could understand.

It seemed a very important person wished to see Adrian.

They earnestly requested his presence.

Adrian indicated he would consider it.

But he had urgent matters to attend to first.

The men in black immediately made a call to report this.

"Are you hungry?" Adrian suddenly turned and asked her.

Anna, caught listening to the conversation, was momentarily startled.

After a pause, she replied, "No."

Adrian handed her a file.

"Project documents."

"Review them quickly."

"We're heading straight to the negotiation."

Anna took the file, somewhat surprised.

She hadn't expected work to start right after landing.

Upon second thought, it made sense.

Successful people were naturally busier than most.

She lowered her head and studied the documents seriously.

She said nothing more.

The van soon reached its destination.

A man in black respectfully offered a key card.

"Mr. Sinclair."

"Our Boss has prepared a hotel suite for you."

"You may proceed directly to check-in."

Adrian glanced at the key card.

He casually placed it in his bag.

"Please convey my thanks."

While he didn't lack such things,

there was no need to refuse the gesture.

The man in black bowed and retreated.

The vehicle drove away.

Anna watched the entire exchange, curious.

Who exactly was this "Boss"?

To show Adrian such respect?

Adrian turned and noticed her distraction.

He cleared his throat lightly. "Focus."

"Prepare for the meeting."

Anna pressed her lips together helplessly.

She had already reviewed the documents last night.

She remembered the contents well enough.

This was just a refresher.

She quietly followed Adrian.

They entered a tall office building.

It was slightly less impressive than the Lowell Corporation.

Anna grew even more curious.

What kind of project required Adrian's personal attention?

A secretary greeted them immediately upon entry.

She was a woman with smoky eye makeup.

Her skin was tanned, but her features were delicate.

"You must be Mr. Sinclair?"

"This way, please."

The woman looked at Adrian with obvious admiration.

Adrian gave a slight nod.

He strode purposefully into the conference room.

Anna hurried after him.

As she passed the woman,

she received a similarly surprised look.

Anna instinctively touched her face.

Was there something on it?
