Chapter 193
Her phone screen lit up.
She stared at the name for a few seconds.
Her finger hovered over the answer button.
In the end, she pressed decline.
Now was not the time to talk.
She couldn't give him the response he wanted.
She couldn't drag him into this mess again.
She took a deep breath.
Composed herself.
Checked that her expression showed nothing unusual.
Then turned and walked out of the restroom.
Back at her desk.
Adrian Sinclair's words echoed in her ears.
She opened her computer.
Followed his instructions.
A line of deleted records appeared on the screen.
Her heart raced.
She opened the email.
Her vision darkened.
It was the leaked project documents.
Now she had solid evidence.
Someone had accessed her computer.
Who could it be?
The office was full of people.
Chloe Valentine wouldn't do it herself.
How could she find out who did it?
She quickly returned to the desktop.
Pretended to stare blankly at the screen.
Colleagues nearby were chatting.
"Did you hear what happened at the supermarket downstairs?"
"What? What happened?"
"The owner had a large sum of money stolen!"
"Oh my god, how did that happen?"
Anna Ross listened quietly.
"The owner didn't have surveillance cameras."
"Luckily, the company's cameras caught it."
"That's how they caught the thief."
She looked up suddenly.
Her eyes fell on the corner of the ceiling.
Surveillance cameras!
Why hadn't she thought of that?
She stood up immediately.
Headed straight for the security room.
The security guard glanced at her.
"Can I help you?"
"I'd like to check the surveillance footage."
The guard nodded and let her in.
Screens covered the wall, flickering.
She found the area for the Creative Department.
Scrolled back day by day.
Her eyes grew sore and tired.
But she found nothing.
She put down the mouse.
Thanked the guard.
Returned to her desk dejected.
Quitting time arrived.
Her phone rang suddenly in her bag.
It was a call from the bar owner.
