Chapter 124

She finished washing up.

She quickly called a car.

She kept calling Sophia Roscente's number on the way.

No one answered.

Anxiety coiled around her heart like vines.

She arrived at the company.

She walked quickly to her workstation.

She looked up.

A familiar figure caught her eye.

Her heart skipped a beat.

It was him.

Adrian Sinclair walked from the other end of the hallway.

His gaze swept over her direction.

His eyes were as indifferent as ever.

Not a trace of emotion could be seen.

A sweet, coquettish voice suddenly rang out.

"Adrian!"

Chloe Valentine approached quickly in her high heels.

Her smile was bright and brilliant.

"Why didn't you tell me you were going abroad?"

"Did everything go well?"

Anna Ross's fingertips trembled slightly.

She always felt a chill whenever she heard that tone.

She wondered how Adrian could stand it.

Adrian remembered what he saw last night.

He glanced coldly at Anna.

Then he turned to Chloe.

His slender fingers lifted her chin.

A lazy smile curled his lips.

"At least you know how to care about me."

Chloe was instantly dazzled.

She held his arm and giggled.

"Of course."

"I am your fiancรฉe, after all."

Adrian chuckled lowly.

He deliberately put his arm around Chloe's shoulder in front of Anna.

Chloe was overjoyed.

She didn't expect him to be so intimate right after returning.

It seemed she held a certain place in his heart.

The two walked toward the office together.

Anna lowered her eyes.

Her eyes ached with soreness.

She put down the documents and turned to leave.

The cool wind on the rooftop hit her face.

It dispersed the restlessness in her heart.

But her thoughts became even more chaotic.

She remembered everything with Adrian.

A sharp pain pierced her heart.

Inside the office.

Chloe was about to lean on Adrian's shoulder.

But he suddenly let go.

His tone was distant.

"This is the company."

"It's better to keep some distance."

He walked straight to his desk.

He turned on his computer and started working.

Chloe stood frozen in place.

Her fingertips still held the warmth from him.

It felt like what just happened was a dream.

She bit her lip.

Her eyes slightly reddened.

"Adrian..."

"Weren't we fine just a moment ago?"

Adrian focused on typing.

He didn't even look up.

"It's work hours."

"Time to focus on business."

He glanced up briefly.

"Go back to work first."

"We can talk after work if there's anything."

Chloe was unwilling but could only nod.

She gently closed the door and left.

The office returned to silence.

Adrian leaned back in his chair.

He thought for a moment, then suddenly stood up.

He pushed open the office door.

The Executive Assistant's seat was empty.

He frowned and took out his phone.

He dialed a number.

"It's work hours."

"Where are you?"
