Chapter 103

"Is that so?" The old man's gaze darkened slightly, but he didn't press further. He simply lifted his teacup and took a small sip. "Chloe, no matter how important work is, it can't compare to life itself."

A flicker of disappointment passed through Chloe Valentine's eyes, but she was quickly pleased by his words. She nodded obediently. "You're right, Grandpa."

She clenched her fingers tightly.

Anna Ross, no matter how much you try to get his attention, I'm the only one who will marry him in the end.

Only I deserve to stand by his side!

The old man lowered his eyes to drink his tea, a thoughtful glint flashing deep within them.

That girl... I feel like I've seen her somewhere before.

Elsewhere, Noah Watson finally finished showing Anna Ross around the company's layout.

They both stood at the end of the corridor and sighed in relief simultaneously.

Anna gently patted her chest and smiled lightly. "The company is so big. I would definitely get lost without a guide."

Noah shrugged helplessly. "Tell me about it! Last time I was rushing to a meeting, I got lost in the R&D department for ten whole minutes."

The tips of his ears turned red, clearly still embarrassed by this past mishap.

Anna found it amusing but kindly didn't point it out.

The elevator went straight to the top floor.

The gilded plaque of the CEO's office came into view. Anna paused. "My workstation... is here?"

Noah quickly explained. "Mr. Sinclair hasn't arranged a specific location for you yet. Please wait here temporarily."

He pushed the door open. A cold, grey and pure black interior design style greeted them.

A leather executive chair, a mahogany desk, dual computer screens emitting a cold glow.

An entire wall was filled with a bookshelf packed with hardcover classics. A black leather sofa sat beside the floor-to-ceiling window.

The only splash of life in this oppressive space was a giant monstera plant.

"Please have a seat, Miss Ross. I'll go fetch the documents." Noah hurried away.

Anna rubbed her sore calves and sank into the sofa.

This office was exactly like Adrian Sinclair himselfโ€”

Meticulous, icy, and impermeable.

Sudden laughter and conversation sounded outside the door.

The moment the door opened, three pairs of eyes met.

Old Mr. Lowell stood at the doorway leaning on his cane. Chloe Valentine held his arm, her smile freezing on her face.

Anna's heart sank.

Just what she was afraid of was happening.

She immediately stood up and bowed her head slightly. "Chairman, Miss Valentine. I'll excuse myself so you can talk."

Chloe watched her hurried retreat, a secret smile curling her lips.

Just as Anna's fingertips touched the door handle, an aged yet authoritative voice rang out from behindโ€”

"Stop right there."

Anna's back stiffened.

Chloe's smile solidified on her face.
