Chapter 170
The moment she looked up and saw Adrian Sinclair, she was speechless.
Marcus Hill looked at her, puzzled, thinking she was just shy.
He smiled.
"A kiss on the cheek is normal."
He reached out to touch her, but Sophia Roscente pushed his hand away in a panic.
She stared ahead, flustered.
"C-Cousin, what are you doing here?"
Cousin?
Marcus froze, suddenly realizing what was happening.
He turned around sharply.
Adrian stood behind them, his presence intimidating, his eyes cold enough to kill.
He gasped.
"Adrian, let me explain!"
"Explain? You should." Adrian spoke through gritted teeth, suppressing his rage.
He sat down calmly, but everyone could feel the storm brewing.
Anna Ross arrived just then and sighed softly.
She stood to the side, hoping Marcus would survive this.
Sophia looked at her like a lifeline, her eyes pleading: Help me!
Marcus was completely stunned.
He never expected such bad luckโrunning into them just while having a meal.
He regretted choosing this restaurant.
As he remained silent, Adrian tapped the table impatiently.
His voice was low.
"Weren't you going to explain?"
"Adrian, well... we..." Marcus stammered.
Adrian's intensity was overwhelming.
Trying to flirt with his cousin right in front of him was a death wish.
Sophia took a deep breath and explained.
"Cousin, we were just having a meal together.
Back in San Francisco, you asked him to look after me.
This is my way of thanking him."
Seeing his cousin's naive expression, Adrian was furious.
He shot her a cold glare.
"Shut up!"
Sophia was frightened into silence.
She was truly afraid of her cousin.
"Marcus, you explain." Adrian turned his relentless gaze to the man hanging his head.
A bad feeling rose in Sophia's heart.
She quickly got up and went to Anna's side.
She whispered pleadingly, "Sis, please help me.
Say something!"
Only Anna could save them now.
Anna glanced hesitantly at the enraged Adrian.
She spoke slowly.
"They might really just be having a meal together.
Don't misunderstand."
"Yes, Cousin!" Sophia chimed in quickly.
Seeing Adrian show no reaction, Marcus gritted his teeth.
He decided to confess.
There was nothing wrong with dating.
He believed Adrian would understand.
Just as he was about to speak, Sophia covered his mouth and shook her head frantically.
Adrian's anger intensified.
He stared daggers at them.
"You'd better tell the truth!"
Sophia wanted to say more, but his warning glare silenced her.
Marcus pulled her hand away.
He cleared his throat and said firmly, "Sophia and I are together."
