Chapter 106
Adrian Sinclair tightened his fingers.
His tie loosened.
His voice was low. "Grandpa, I can't obey you on this matter."
Grandpa was stunned.
He set his teacdown heavily.
He stared at his grandson. "Is this the first time you've defied me, for that girl?"
Adrian remained silent.
His gaze swept over Chloe Valentine.
She was fiddling with her skirt, head bowed.
Grandpa slammed the table. "She must be fired today!"
Adrian picked up his water glass.
The temperature was just right.
He took a sip.
"Grandpa, you've met her?"
Grandpa snorted coldly. "I have. I don't like her."
Chloe moved closer to Grandpa.
Adrian's eyes turned cold.
He set down his glass.
"She's Uncle's stepdaughter."
Grandpa paused.
"Stepdaughter?"
Adrian nodded. "Uncle personally asked me to look after her."
Grandpa fell silent for a moment.
His fingers rubbed his cane.
Chloe bit her lip.
She spoke softly. "Grandpa, it's alright for me."
She looked at Adrian. "As long as I can stay in the company, any position is fine."
Grandpa immediately frowned. "No, she must be transferred!"
Adrian rubbed his temples.
"Fine."
He agreed readily.
A flash of joy appeared in Chloe's eyes.
She gently tugged Grandpa's sleeve. "Thank you, Grandpa."
Grandpa patted her hand. "Silly child, you've been wronged."
Adrian suddenly spoke. "The Creative Department is short-staffed."
Chloe's smile froze.
"You'd be perfect there."
His tone was calm.
Chloe's face turned pale.
The Creative Department was downstairs.
It was three whole floors away from the CEO's office.
She shook her head hurriedly. "I don't want to go to the Creative Department!"
Grandpa immediately agreed. "That's right, she can't go!"
Adrian stood up.
"It's settled."
