Chapter 0078

Alexander

Genevieve storms away, her anger and frustration palpable.

She never gets what she wants.

After all this time, I thought she would have learned.

But she remains stubborn, always searching for a way back in.

I hide my amusement at Athenaโ€™s dark thoughts.

Once again, her inner darkness surfaces.

Only I can hear it.

โ€œSheโ€™s something else,โ€ Caleb mutters.

I agree,โ€™ Titan growls.

โ€œWhy not just tell her youโ€™re gay?โ€ I ask, ignoring Titanโ€™s rambling.

โ€œWhereโ€™s the fun in that?โ€ Caleb smirks, watching Genevieve stomp across the snow.

โ€œBesides, sheโ€™s too dense to understand anything I say.

So whatโ€™s the story with her?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s a long story.

And none of your business,โ€ I tell him.

His eyes flicker toward Athena, but he stays silent.

He knows better than to question my decisions as Alpha.

Inside the house, I have one of the Omegas show Caleb to his room.

I insist he gets one far from mine.

Athena, Sebastian, and I head to the office.

We need a plan.

Dominic and Victoria must be hunted down and eliminated.

I wonโ€™t let them find my mate or force someone to impregnate her.

Athena sighs and rubs her eyes.

She sits quietly, regretting her dark thoughts.

Questioning how cruel she can be.

To me, she isnโ€™t cruel.

She wants revengeโ€”a revenge she deserves.

But I wonder if she can actually go through with killing them.

โ€œTake some warriors into the city.

See what you can find,โ€ I tell Sebastian.

I want time alone with Athena.

โ€œShould I take Caleb?

He might sense them.

It could make things easier.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t let him out of your sight.โ€

โ€œNo chance.โ€

As he stands to leave, I order him to kill them on sight.

I notice Athenaโ€™s lips curve into a faint smile.

It vanishes when she catches me looking.

She lowers her face, embarrassed.

โ€œWeโ€™ve wasted enough time,โ€ I tell her.

โ€œIโ€™m done with their games.

They deserve a swift death.โ€

โ€œI always thought they wanted me dead, but I never understood why they didnโ€™t just kill me.โ€

She pulls her knees to her chest.

โ€œI begged for death.

There were nights I prayed to the Moon Goddess not to let me wake up.

I even thought about throwing myself down the stairs.โ€

โ€œBut you kept fighting.โ€

She lets out a heavy sigh.

โ€œI didnโ€™t want to.โ€

โ€œIf you hadnโ€™t, our paths would never have crossed.

You wouldnโ€™t be here with me, claimed.

Instead, youโ€™d likely be knocked up, raped by one of the men in Silver Creek.โ€

Iโ€™m not trying to scare her.

I want her to see that everything led her to me.

โ€œIf they find meโ€ฆโ€

I cut her off, locking eyes with her.

โ€œI will burn everything to the ground to find you.

But theyโ€™d have to kill me first.

Otherwise, it would kill you anyway.โ€

Damn right.

Let the whole world burn for all I care!โ€™ Titan declares.

Finally, we agree on something.

She sits quietly, hugging her legs.

โ€œIt would be easier if you just spoke to me.

As much as I enjoy reading your mind, you make it difficult when your thoughts jump around.

Iโ€™ve told you before.

You donโ€™t have to stay quiet here.

If you have something to say, say it.โ€

She shakes her head.

โ€œAthena?โ€

She scowls.

โ€œWโ€ฆwhy would they agree to bind me so many times?โ€
