Chapter 0307

"You appear disoriented." He murmurs while examining the remaining fluid in the IV bag.

"I assumed this was about Athena."

"The Alpha holds no interest for me. Daniel did, but Daniel is deceased."

"The Wolf from the bar?"

"Correct." He adjusts the blanket over my legs, and only now do I notice my weakened sense of smell.

"What have you administered to me?"

"I needed to ensure you couldn't shift. You create significant problems for our kind, don't you Seraphina. I cannot permit that."

"I'm compensated, and they all warrant it."

"Oh, I'm aware. Although I've been cleaning up your mess for quite some time. Ensuring Humans don't discover us."

More screams and shouts echo from the hallway, both male and female. How many were imprisoned here?

"All Lycans?"

"Not exclusively."

As I stare at him, I attempt to summon my Lycan forward. If devouring him means freedom, I would. But nothing happens.

He smirks at me. "I wouldn't bother. It's ineffective."

My gaze shifts to the IV drip; it must contain something.

Levi laughs. "You require it to survive. Your choices are to live here without your Lycan or perish."

He strides toward the door. "Breakfast will be delivered shortly." He begins to close the door. "Remember this. You believe you are formidable, but there is always someone far more dangerous."

He has no conception of who he's confronting.

I lie still, staring at the pristine white ceiling. Not a single speck of dirt marred its surface. No tiles to count for passing time, nothing. This place was designed to drive us insane. But I am accustomed to solitude with my thoughts.

Breakfast is oatmeal in a plastic bowl. Delivered by an older woman with salt-and-pepper hair. Her grey eyes are vacant. She moves almost mechanically. Not a single word escapes her lips. She avoids all eye contact. What leverage does Levi hold over her?

A different woman arrives thirty minutes later to collect the breakfast dish. She's younger than the first, perhaps in her thirties, but again, there is no eye contact. I began questioning if this was a dream, it felt surreal.

Taking my IV bag with me, I sit in the corner directly beneath the camera. I didn't know if this position hid me from view, but it made me feel slightly less observed.

I fiddle with the IV line, disconnecting and reconnecting it, testing how long I could last before feeling near death. I couldn't exceed five seconds. It wasn't enough time to mount an attack, but perhaps the tubing could be used. It was long enough to wrap around someone's neck.

I startle at a knock on the door. The inability to hear approach was unnerving. I remain silent as the door swings open. Levi's eyes find me instantly.

"On your feet."

"Why?"

"Always so inquisitive." A slight smirk plays on his lips. "Get up."

I rise slowly.

"Bring it with you or you won't get far."

I push the IV stand alongside me as I step into a white corridor lined with multiple doors. Some occupants bang on their doors while others remain quiet or sob behind them.

"Move!" Levi snaps, shoving me forward.

My bare feet shuffle slowly, one before the other, as I try estimating how many are here. And what they might have done to end up here. We reach a door and Levi uses a key to unlock it. He locks it behind us as well.

"Where are you taking me?"

He remains silent, pushing me onward. "Is this retaliation for what I did to Athena?"

"I told you, the Alpha doesn't concern me. Though many would consider it treason." He directs me into another room and points to a chair. "You've met her?" I was beginning to suspect he hadn't. He might know her name, but seemed unaware she was mated.

"Why does it matter to you?"

"Because if you had met her, you would know we are siblings."
