Chapter 0206
Unknown
"Are you finished? You're behaving like a child, not the man I thought I knew. So what if someone saw you?" I refill my wine glass, watching Julian squirm. If this was his usual demeanor, I understood why his brother grew impatient with him.
I tolerated it only because of his skills in bed. He knew exactly how to please me, unlike so many others.
He drifts toward the balcony, peeking through the curtains.
"Trust me, I'd know if we were followed. My guess is he's already run back to the pack to report to your dear older brother."
"What if he saw you? Doesn't that bother you?"
"Oh, he did." I shrug, completely unfazed. He was truly overreacting.
He whips around, dark eyes wide as they lock onto me. "What are you talking about?"
"He was watching you when you told me he'd spotted you. Right before I ordered you into my car."
"You didn't do anything."
"I didn't consider him a threat. Weren't you trying to protect that precious sister of yours?"
"Does he know what you are?" he asks cautiously, sidestepping my question. His assumptions were beginning to shift.
"Depends. Can he distinguish between Lycan and Wolf scents?"
He nods, hair falling into his eyes. He brushes it away impatiently. He desperately needed a haircut. New clothes, too. Perhaps I could mold him into my right-hand man. But not while he looked like a homeless vagrant. That had to change.
"Then he knows."
"That's not good." Julian looks alarmed.
"Relax," I snap. "They don't know my identity, and they won't until it's too late."
"They'll figure it out."
"Unlikely." I take another sip of wine and extend my glass for a refill.
He takes the glass, and I observe his body language shift. His shoulders tense. His jaw clenches, cheek pulsing with irritation.
"Is there something you're not telling me, Julian? You know I value information."
He freezes as wine pours from the bottle.
"I asked about your connection to Athena," he mumbles. "You refused to answer."
"And you've asked repeatedly since then." I run my tongue over my teeth, warning him not to push further. I had no intention of revealing anything yet.
"You look like her."
"WHAT?!" I spring to my feet, glaring at him. My hands curl into fists at my sides.
I shake my head, both amused and astonished. "That's how you found me. You noticed I resembled her."
He remains silent, his grip tightening on the wine bottle. He might consider throwing it at me, but I was faster. He'd be dead before the bottle left his hand.
"What about the name, Lone Wolf? Where did you hear it?"
"I heard it mentioned in another bar. I took a chance. You were sitting alone. Others seemed afraid of you. I noticed blood on your fingers."
He was smarter than he appeared. "And you used the name Harrison."
"Another gamble."
I laugh, a rare occurrence. I had to give him credit. It was a bold move that could have gotten him killed.
I sink back onto the sofa, propping my stilettos on the coffee table. He visibly relaxes, lowering the wine bottle and handing me the glass.
"What was your actual role in Obsidian Howl, besides being the Alpha's little brother?"
"I was the Gamma."
This kept getting better.
"So you have strategic military knowledge?" I was starting to understand why he couldn't attack the pack alone. He knew he'd lose without assistance.
He nods.
I take another drink. "How much do I resemble her?" I'd never seen her. I only knew she stole my chance at a better life.
He kept insisting her life wasn't what I imagined, but I didn't buy that. Our father chose her and her mother over us. All because her mother carried Alpha bloodโthe same blood that ran through Athena's veins.
"Well?" I demand.
His eyes scan me. "You don't dress like her, that's certain." He pauses at my cleavage. "And your breasts are larger. But aside from the eyes, you're identical. Anyone from Obsidian Howl glancing quickly would mistake you for her."
