Chapter 0300
"Is everything alright with Sebastian?"
"He wants children." She doesn't hesitate at all.
"And you don't?"
"It's not that. His boys died not long ago. I know they weren't biologically his, but he raised them."
"You think he's trying to replace them?"
"I'm not sure. I mean... I never imagined having kids in my life, ever. Then I was mated to Sebastian and everything spiraled..."
"I never pictured myself with children either."
Her brown eyes lock intensely with mine. "But you're an amazing mother. I turned out just like my fatherโwhat if I pass that on?"
"You do realize who you're talking to, right? My parents had me bound twice. My uncle had me bound twice. My parents tried to abandon me. How do you think I felt about having the twins?"
"Point taken." she murmurs.
"Just talk to him."
"Good idea."
She doesn't move.
"Is there something else?"
She taps the armrest with the side of her fist. "I think... I think Lucas might need to check on Hannah again."
"Why?"
"She hasn't said anything. But she's been acting strange the past couple weeks. Some days she refuses to leave the house, muttering about someone finding her. Other days she's perfectly fine and acts like her normal self."
"She was in a traumatic hostage situation."
"But the guy is dead. And no one else has come here looking for her."
'Told you.' Nyx murmurs. 'She is plotting to kill us.'
'Not everyone is a murderer.' I snap back.
'But you are Athena. You enjoy watching them lose their life. You like to see their heart stop beating.'
'And I can't wait to watch you die.' I growl at my Lycan.
She finally stops talking to me.
"I'll come over." I tell Brianna. "Is she home now?"
"I think so."
Hannah is sitting in a corner of the kitchen. Her knees are pulled up to her chest with her arms locked tightly around them. Her chestnut eyes dart up to meet mine and I notice how sweaty she is. "Is she sick?"
"Shouldn't she heal?"
"He's watching me." Hannah mutters.
"Who?"
"He's always watching. It's wrong. It can't happen. He's watching."
Brianna looks at me with a face that clearly screams 'help'.
"Hannah, who is watching you?" I press.
"My mate." She whispers as her eyes bulge and she begins to rock back and forth.
"The guy who marked you is dead." Brianna crouches down beside her.
โNathan's dead. Nathan's dead." Hannah mutters over and over. Her words drop to a terrified whisper. โHe will kill me."
"Who?"
"My mate!"
Brianna stands up and pulls me aside. "Do you think we need to take her to the hospital? It seems like she's lost her mind."
"I'll link Zachary to come help."
Zachary puts Hannah on a hospital bed and pulls Isabella away from Julian. Hannah continues muttering about her mate killing her as Isabella gives her a quick examination.
Isabella grabs a syringe from the drawer and jabs Hannah, who eventually passes out.
"What's wrong with her?" I ask.
"It seems she has the same issues you had." Isabella mutters emotionlessly. All this time she's been spending at Julian's bedside wasn't helping her. She was becoming a hollow version of herself. She turns to leave.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I push.
"She fears her new mate." she glances back at Hannah, "She'll be out for a few hours. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to spend time with my brother."
"Her new mate?" I turn to Brianna and ask if Hannah had been seeing anyone.
โNo, like I said she'll leave the house for a couple days and then spend days inside."
"Like she's avoiding someone."
"I guess."
There was only one person that was in and out of the pack for days at a time. I almost wanted to laugh. Hannah is a Lycan, the very thing he hated.
