Chapter 0038

โ€œDid you tell her?โ€ Sebastianโ€™s voice was low as his sons chased each other across the field.

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œI take it sheโ€™s still not speaking to you?โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

He nodded slowly. โ€œRemind me againโ€”why keep it from her? That bastard is gone. Sheโ€™s free. Sheโ€™s yours to claim.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not that simple,โ€ I muttered.

โ€œI get it, butโ€ฆโ€ He paused. โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t have been able to hide it if she wasnโ€™t bound. Is this because of the Lycan rumors? Wolves have done worse and still ended up with humans.โ€

โ€œSpeaking of which,โ€ I said, steering the topic away from Athena. โ€œHas Caleb said anything else?โ€

Sebastian shook his head. โ€œI told youโ€”he wonโ€™t talk to me. No idea why.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve searched every database. Thereโ€™s nothing. How can something like this exist without a trace?โ€

โ€œMaybe itโ€™s because Silver Creek hid so well. And those rules Athena mentioned.โ€

โ€œI need to speak with him,โ€ I said firmly.

We headed down to the dungeon. Sebastian banged on the bars, jolting the man who called himself Caleb awake.

โ€œYou said they removed you.โ€

โ€œGood morning to you too,โ€ he yawned, running a hand through his dark hair. The resemblance to Athena was undeniable.

โ€œYes, I was put up for adoption.โ€

โ€œThen how did you locate the pack? You were three. No way you remembered.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s a Lycan thing.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re saying you can track them?โ€ Sebastian cut in. โ€œEven after being exiled.โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œHow?โ€

โ€œWeโ€™reโ€ฆ connected. Like how you all link minds. Right?โ€

โ€œHow did you find them?โ€

He shrugged. โ€œCanโ€™t explain it. If there were other Lycan packs out there, theyโ€™d find Silver Creek too.โ€

โ€œAre there others?โ€

โ€œNo. Why do you think Dominic is so desperate to keep them hidden? Our kind is dying. Those you saw are the last. My sister is the last Alpha.โ€ His blue eyes locked onto mine. โ€œYou still havenโ€™t told her.โ€

โ€œNot your concern.โ€

โ€œSheโ€™s my sister,โ€ he argued.

โ€œYou donโ€™t even know her.โ€

โ€œDo you?โ€ he shot back sarcastically. โ€œYouโ€™re in love with her but wonโ€™t admit it.โ€

โ€œEnough!โ€ I growled.

Heโ€™s not wrong, Titan murmured. I noticed Sebastian raising a brow.

Caleb held up his hands. โ€œJust sayingโ€”how do you think sheโ€™ll react when she finds out youโ€™ve been hiding this? A secret kept from her entire life?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re lucky to be breathing.โ€

โ€œI know. But so is Athena. Havenโ€™t you wondered why Dominic kept her alive?โ€

โ€œWhy?โ€

โ€œThatโ€ฆ I donโ€™t know. Iโ€™ve been trying to figure it out for years. Binding her powers makes no sense. If he raised her differently, sheโ€™d be just like them.โ€

โ€œYou said he didnโ€™t believe in a female Alpha.โ€

โ€œI did. But then why let her live? You have to admit, Alpha Alexander, something isnโ€™t adding up.โ€

โ€œYou could be making all this up to save your own skin.โ€

โ€œMaybe. But even you can see thereโ€™s truth in what Iโ€™m saying.โ€

Do you believe him? I asked Titan.

Not sure, he replied. He has no reason to lie. But also every reason.

If I kill him and Athena finds outโ€ฆ sheโ€™ll never forgive me. If heโ€™s lying and plotting with Dominicโ€ฆ ignoring it would be foolish.

There was only one path forward.

I had to tell Athena the truth.

But would she be able to handle it?
