Chapter 0155
โAre you certain about this?โ Sebastianโs whisper is urgent as his fingers wrap around my arm.
I give a sharp nod. โI have to try.โ
Without another word, I surge forward, leaving him behind.
Zacharyโs voice echoes through the trees. It takes me a moment to spot him perched high in a tree. Heโs in full Lycan form. He can speak while shifted?
โThereโs so much we still donโt know,โ Nyx murmurs as I drop into a crouch behind a thick bush.
Isabella screams again. In another tree, a second Lycan dangles her effortlessly. Sheโs putting up little fight. Blood drips steadily onto the forest floor beneath her.
โGABRIEL! This isnโt a fucking game!โ Zacharyโs roar shakes the leaves.
Gabriel. Did he just say Gabriel?
โAs in her first mate?โ Nyx sounds intrigued.
โBut he was a Wolf.โ
โHas she ever mentioned that?โ she murmurs.
โAre you suggesting she knew and kept it secret?โ
โNo. Think. You said she told you he rejected her after learning which pack she belonged to. What if someone from Silver Creek warned him to stay away?โ
Another scream rips from Isabella. The Rogue Lycan sinks his teeth deep into her waist. Heโs killing her right in front of Zachary. I canโt just watch.
I step out from the bushes. โRelease her.โ
The Rogue pulls his teeth from her flesh to stare at me.
โLet her go!โ I command again.
โGladly.โ He drops her.
A blur of movement. Zachary dives from his tree, trying to catch her before she hits the ground.
The Rogue lands directly in front of me. He rises to his full height, towering over my small frame.
โYou are the female Alpha.โ He snorts derisively. โWhat makes you so special?โ
โNothing.โ
A guttural laugh escapes him. His beady eyes lock onto mine. โYou protect Wolves? How noble.โ
โYouโre Gabriel?โ I ask. Strangely, I feel no fear staring death in the face.
โI am.โ
โYou were mated to her? You were Isabellaโs mate?โ
โWHAT?!โ The shout comes from behind me.
I donโt flinch. If I turn to see what Zachary is doing, it would be a fatal mistake. Alexander had warned me never to look away if I faced one.
โOnce upon a time,โ the Rogue growls.
โYou rejected her.โ
โI did. Wolves and Lycans donโt mix.โ
He snarls, bloody drool dripping from his jaws. โThough Wolves do taste delicious.โ He runs his tongue over his sharp teeth.
โWas it your choice, or were you ordered to reject her?โ
โLike I said, wolves and Lycans donโt mix.โ
โYou wonโt touch them.โ My gaze doesnโt waver.
He lets out that choked laugh again. โYou believe you can stop me?โ
โIโve killed Lycans.โ My eyes darken as I hold his stare.
He laughs again, but this time it sounds more skeptical.
โBecause youโre some almighty Alpha? That means nothing to Rogues.โ
โTell him. He hasnโt realized it yet,โ Nyx mutters with glee.
I stare straight into his beady eyes. โI am your Alpha, whether you accept it or not, Gabriel.โ
He growls, taking a step back. โI donโt use that name anymore. You will never be my Alpha.โ
โYou are a product of a Silver Creek Lycan. That makes me your Alpha.โ
I hate using that connection, but itโs necessary. Without Nyx, I wouldnโt still be standing.
โYou canโt deny it. You feel it. You know I outrank you, whether you want me to or not.โ
โI am a Rogue.โ
โKeep telling yourself that.โ
โI will kill you.โ
I donโt respond. Zachary moves silently behind him.
He drives his claws deep into Gabrielโs back, tearing through skin and muscle.
