Chapter 0058

Athena

I woke up alone.

Every muscle in my body ached.

A dull throb pulsed between my thighs.

The memories of last night flooded back.

The sex had been incredible.

My intense urges were finally satisfied.

I could think clearly again.

But my body was paying the price.

I tiptoed across the room, wincing with each step.

I turned on the bath faucet.

I didn't wait for the tub to fill completely.

I stepped into the warm water immediately.

I slowly lowered my sore body into the soothing heat.

The door opened.

I recognized Alexander's woody scent before I saw him.

His crimson eyes scanned the empty bed first.

Then they found me in the bath.

"Sore?" He smirked as he walked toward me.

I nodded and sank deeper into the water.

The water rose to my chin.

"It won't always feel like this." He smiled softly.

He leaned over the tub and kissed my forehead.

Then he moved to the large chair by the window.

He turned it to face me and sat down.

"You don't remember much from your childhood, do you?"

I shook my head silently.

He was watching me intently again.

Just like he had in Dominic's office.

That same curious expression.

"Has Caleb... Has he said something?" I asked quietly.

"No." His voice sounded distant. "I haven't spoken to him."

"Did I do it wrong?" He was my first and only.

I wasn't sure if I had performed well.

He laughed and shook his head. "No, you were perfect."

I soaked in silence, waiting for him to continue.

But he remained quiet, just watching me.

I finally got out and began drying myself.

He went to the closet and picked out clothes for me.

I was slowly getting used to him doing that.

"Are we going somewhere?" I asked as he handed me trainers.

I had hoped to stay here and rest.

"We need to speak to your brother. I have questions. I want you there to hear his answers."

He said he hadn't spoken to Caleb.

What happened while I was asleep?

Walking through the snow toward the dungeons made me uneasy.

Something had definitely occurred.

I wasn't sure I wanted to know what it was.

Alexander pulled the heavy door open.

He stepped into the darkness first.

He flicked the lights on as he descended the steps.

"Caleb?" Alexander called out. "Are you awake?"

"You brought me a visitor. How could I sleep through my sister's arrival?"

He yawned as I stepped in front of his cell.

He looked well-rested.

Someone had given him a small bed, water, and fresh clothes.

He had better treatment than I received under Dominic and Marcus.

"You look comfortable." Alexander's voice was quiet.

"Your gorgeous Beta was kind enough to bring me some comforts. He thought it might make me more talkative. He seemed annoyed that I would only speak to you."

Caleb grinned. "Tell me, is he seeing anyone?"

"He isn't into men. I believe he made that very clear." Alexander's tone was low.

"Such a pity. Anyway, how can I help you?" Caleb stood up and stretched.

"Witches." Alexander stated simply.

"Witches? Any particular witch? Not that I've met any."

"You said you had inside information. Was there talk about witches visiting? Specifically concerning Athena."

My head snapped toward Alexander.

But his focus remained entirely on Caleb.
