Chapter 0291

โ€˜Youโ€™re lying.โ€™ Nyx presses.

โ€˜If you donโ€™t stop, Iโ€™ll find a way to shut you out,โ€™ I snap at my Lycan.

โ€œCan you get Alexander and Lucas?โ€ I ask Brianna.

โ€œOf course.โ€

Hannahโ€™s eyes widen. Her heart starts racing again. โ€œAre you going to let them shoot me?โ€

โ€œJust need to check something.โ€ I give her a small smile.

She sits quietly, twisting the ends of her hair while we wait.

Alexander is the first to arrive. He walks over and kisses my forehead. Hannahโ€™s chestnut eyes follow the movement. A faint smile touches her lips.

โ€œWhereโ€™s Lucas?โ€

โ€œOn his way. He was cleaning up.โ€ Alexander tells me.

Hannah shudders, running her fingers through her hair. โ€œHeโ€™s really dead?โ€

โ€œYes. Are you okay?โ€

โ€œIt hurts, but thatโ€™s because he marked me, right?โ€

I explain to Alexander that this Nathan guy wasnโ€™t her true mate. He was keeping her like property. It made me furious. Iโ€™m a little disappointed she didnโ€™t get to kill him herself. Thereโ€™s nothing like watching the life fade from someone you despise.

I shake my head, closing my eyes. I focus on my sons, pushing the dark thoughts away. Then I catch Lucasโ€™s scent.

โ€œBlondie and the surfer are on guard,โ€ he mutters. He watches me with an amused look. Heโ€™s always watching me.

โ€œYou mean Sebastian and Theodore,โ€ Alexander corrects him.

โ€œRight. Theyโ€™ll signal when more Lycans arrive.โ€ His hazel eyes shift to Hannah. โ€œYou told Athena you canโ€™t shift?โ€

Her head whips around to glare at him. โ€œHow did you know that?โ€

Lucas smiles. โ€œI know many things.โ€ His gaze returns to me. โ€œYou wanted to see me?โ€

โ€œWhat else do you know?โ€ Iโ€™m still not entirely sure I believe everything he says. But he does know a lot.

He glances at her. โ€œSheโ€™s clean.โ€

โ€œWhatโ€™s going on?โ€ Hannah asks, her voice rising.

โ€œCan you shift?โ€ I repeat, keeping my eyes on Lucas.

โ€œNo, I swear.โ€

Lucas yawns. โ€œSheโ€™s telling the truth.โ€

โ€œAre you some kind of psychic?โ€ Hannah mutters.

Lucas laughs. โ€œNo. Iโ€™m a Hunter.โ€

Hannah nearly falls off her chair scrambling backward. โ€œYou brought us here to be killed by a Hunter?โ€ She demands, edging behind the desk toward me.

โ€œYou should fear me,โ€ Lucas tells her. โ€œBut right now, youโ€™re not on my list.โ€ He winks at her.

She turns to me. โ€œI know youโ€™re the Alpha, but what are you thinking?โ€

Alexander growls. I hold up a hand to stop him.

โ€œYou know about Hunters?โ€

โ€œMost Lycans do. So why is he here?โ€

โ€œLucas wants Seraphina dead. So do I. So do others,โ€ I tell Hannah.

โ€œHunters kill our kind,โ€ she sputters, her eyes darting between us. โ€œYouโ€™re making a mistake. Heโ€™ll turn on you.โ€

Lucas laughs again. โ€œDonโ€™t make me reconsider, gingernut.โ€

โ€œLuc!โ€ Alexander snaps.

โ€œIโ€™ll be outside if you need me.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s fine.โ€ I take a deep breath, watching Lucas leave with a grin. โ€œHannah, you donโ€™t have to help us. You donโ€™t even have to stay. But if you want to, youโ€™re welcome.โ€ I decided not to force anyone to help. Alexander and I disagree on that.

For so long, I wished Lycans would die out. Especially when I was told they were a dying breed. Then I got pregnant with my own Lycan sons.

โ€œWith him here?โ€ Hannahโ€™s voice climbs higher.

โ€œYou can stay with me,โ€ Brianna offers.

Hannah slumps, looking around the office. She probably has nowhere to go. Not after being sold and passed around.

โ€œLucas wanted me to give you this,โ€ Alexander mutters, dropping a wallet on the desk. โ€œHe took it from Nathan before burning the body. After all youโ€™ve been through, he thinks you should have access to his money.โ€

โ€œWhy would he do that?โ€ Her eyebrows shoot up. โ€œHeโ€™s a Hunter. Iโ€™m a Lycan. He kills our kind. Is this a trick?โ€

โ€œNo one knows how his mind works,โ€ Brianna mutters.

โ€œI shouldnโ€™t take it, should I?โ€ Hannah asks quietly.

โ€œYes, you should. Think of it as compensation for what he did to you,โ€ Brianna says happily.

Hannah slowly picks up the wallet. โ€œHe has millions.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll have Theodore set up an account and transfer the funds,โ€ Alexander smiles at her. โ€œWelcome to Obsidian Howl.โ€
