Chapter 0394

Athena

'He already has his Lycan.' Nyx murmurs, her voice filled with disbelief.

'Yes.'

'What's our next move?'

'Nothing.' I respond firmly. I refuse to bind him like they did to me. This is his true nature. But why Evrin and not Logan? Logan is the firstborn, yet there are no signs of this happening to him.

After shifting back to human form, Evrin collapsed into a deep sleep. Nothing could wake him now. 'Nothing.' Nyx wasn't questioning me, but confirming we shared the same view.

I run my fingers through Evrin's dark hair. He smiles in his sleep. I glance at Logan playing on the floor with his toys. Will he shift too? When will it happen? At thirteen like others?

I know I shouldn't compare my sons, but the questions keep coming. No one here has answers. Not even Luc.

I wonder how my parents reacted when I first shifted. The memory fades as I recall how quickly they bound me. Their disappointment contrasts sharply with my pride in Evrin.

I pick up Logan. "Let's let your brother rest." He needs sleep after last night. Carrying Logan downstairs, I see Alexander escorting Seraphina from his office.

She doesn't notice us, head bowed as Alexander marches her out. Hopefully she gave him useful information.

Logan and I enter the kitchen. Luc is eating breakfast. He waves as I set Logan down with his toys.

"Just the one today?" Luc asks.

"Evrin is sleeping."

"Rough night for him, wasn't it?" He smirks, looking pleased with himself.

"What does it mean?" I demand. "He's not the oldest. Logan should inherit both packs. When Theodore researched me, he said my early abilities came from being the last female Alpha. So why Evrin?"

Luc chews slowly, studying me with narrowed hazel eyes. "I don't have that answer."

"You must know something."

"You'd think so, but I'm drawing blanks. Like you said, he's not the eldest. It doesn't make sense, but it's happening regardless. Following his mother's path."

I nod just as the back door bursts open. Charlotte runs inside, crying hysterically. She doesn't stop, rushing past us toward the stairs. Moments later, we hear her frantic footsteps above.

Luc stands as Zachary enters, furious. He throws Charlotte's bag on the table.

"Why is my daughter crying?" Luc growls at Zachary.

"Maybe because she pinned down another child at school! She should be there now, but I had to pick her up early!"

"Start talking!" Luc demands.

"Like I was the one speaking to her teacher?" Zachary snaps, sitting next to me. "She pinned Liam down."

Luc smirks but stays silent. He shouldn't be proud when we're trying to build something better. "Isn't Liam Caleb's eldest?" I ask.

"Yes." Zachary replies. "We've already had issues with Caleb about Lottie attending that school."

"The bastard should mind his own business." Luc retorts.

"The school is for everyone." I warn him. "There are more Lycan children than Wolves there now." I turn back to Zachary. "Did Charlotte say why she did it?"

"Not exactly. She just said he made her very angry." He points upward. "This isn't like her."

He's right. She never lashes out unless having nightmares. Normally she's calm and friendly. Anger isn't part of her nature.

"I'll speak to the Lycan." Luc offers.

I shake my head. "You will not. I won't leave those three children fatherless."

He smiles at me, almost proud that I guessed his intentions.
