Chapter 0481

"Why would we tell him?" I ask.

Alexander's fingers tighten around my wrist. "We need to talk." He pulls me away urgently, not stopping until we reach Brianna and Sebastian's home.

"Sit down." He commands the moment we enter.

"Alexander, what's happening?"

"There's something I must tell you. I've been struggling with how to say this for a long time. Now it seems I have no choice."

"You're trying to tell me you had a twin."

"You kn... Theodore told you." His expression darkens.

I shrug and nod. "I don't understand why you kept this from me, especially when I was pregnant with the boys. It would have been helpful to know multiples run in the family. To prepare me for whatever might be growing here." I pat my stomach, suddenly aware of my hunger. I hadn't eaten in nearly twelve hours.

"It's more complicated than that. Did he tell you what happened to them?"

"Stillborn." The words catch in my throat. Every mother's worst nightmare.

He shakes his head slowly.

"They weren't?"

"No. That's the story I was told. But it wasn't the truth. This isn't new information either. The reason Jasmine is panicking is because Silas is my twin. Judging by her reaction, we must look identical."

"I'm dreaming, right?" I whisper to Nyx.

'No.' Nyx responds quietly. 'This is very real.'

My eyes lock with Alexander's. "Are you saying you have a twin brother out there that none of us knew about?" He lowers his head in confirmation.

I open my mouth to speak, but only air escapes. Should I be angry? Probably. But mostly I feel disbelief that he never told me.

Pushing up from the sofa, I move toward the kitchen. I needed food, no matter how many questions Nyx was throwing at me.

Alexander follows closely. "I'm sure you have questions."

I pause to stare at him before continuing my search for food. I had more than questions.

His crimson eyes track my movements as I prepare a sandwich. I take one bite before setting it down. "What the actual fuck?!"

"With everything happening, there never seemed a right time to tell you. What I know is that Silas was given to another family member at birth. They couldn't have children, and my father only wanted one heir. That changed when he met his mate, my stepmother. Then Isabella and Julian came along."

"He just gave him away? Just like that?"

"I don't think it was that simple, but neither of them are here to explain. Silas was raised overseas."

"You've never met him."

"No. And I never wanted to."

"If Jasmine hadn't reacted that way, would you have told me?"

"Yes."

"Because I kept mentioning I might be carrying more than one?"

He nods. "The first time could have been coincidence. But if you're having twins again, you deserved to know."

"You're absolutely right about that!" I exhale sharply.

Maybe I hadn't used all my anger on killing Levi. Or perhaps I simply couldn't stay angry with Alexander these days.

"I don't know why he's here or where he is. I'll have to speak with Jasmine." He mutters.

"No one else knows the truth about him?"

"I told Sebastian. That's all. Everyone else who was around when I was born was told the same story. That I was the only survivor. This could destroy my status, Athena."

I shake my head. "It won't. The Wolves trust you. Because of that trust, they accepted me and the other Lycans. Most of them did. You won't lose them over some family secret." I take my sandwich and sit at the small table, still stained with Levi's blood.

"I understand if you're angry." He says quietly.

"I'm not angry." I take another bite. "Confused, definitely. But not angry. Maybe I'm still riding the high from killing Levi." I smile faintly. "I have a half-sibling and a cousin I never knew existed. It's only fair you have family complications too."

He knocks the table over, sending my sandwich and plate flying across the room. His hands settle on my hips, lifting me from the chair as he presses his lips against mine. "Do you have any idea how much I love you?"
