Chapter 0382
"Wolves and Lycans?"
"I'm not sure. I can't distinguish them anymore. They might be like me, for all I know. People he has punished."
She was cooperating a bit too easily. She could be telling the truth, or she might be stalling. What if Levi had given her something too, allowing her to mask her identity?
'Alexander.' I link him. I knew he was nearby. 'Come take her to the dungeons and bring me Evelyn.'
Alexander appears without a word. He unties Seraphina from the chair but quickly binds her hands again.
"Where are we going? Where are you taking me?" she demands.
"For a walk."
"Are you going to kill me?"
"I suppose you'll find out." He winks at me as he forces her out of the office.
I let out a heavy breath when I'm alone. It never gets easier. The urge to kill her right here is overwhelmingly tempting. The image of cutting her open and watching her intestines spill out is stuck in my head.
'Well?' I mutter to Nyx while we wait.
'I'm as uncertain as you are. She's sharing information, but it could be intentional. We should have kept Luc here.'
'Luc has probably gone to see Hannah.'
"Please don't... please... I've done nothing wrong." Evelyn's voice grates on my ears as Alexander tells her to be quiet.
"Just move." Alexander snaps.
"I've done nothing. Why does no one believe me? I told Athena everything I know. This is cruel."
He pushes the office door open, and her mouth shuts the moment she sees me. Her hands are bound just like Seraphina's, though she looks a bit roughed up, maybe tossed around a little.
He tries to put her in the chair, but she resists. Alexander laughs, pressing both hands on her shoulders and forcing her down. One by one, he ties her wrists to the chair as she snarls at him. Her scent was definitely returning, and still, there's no connection to her.
Her grey eyes lock onto mine. "Why are you doing this? We haven't done anything wrong."
"Haven't you?"
"We came here to warn you about Levi. Why are you treating us like this?"
Was she unaware that we could scent her? She had to be, or she wouldn't keep up this act.
Alexander rolls his eyes at her.
"What did you hope to achieve by telling me about him?"
"That you would take action against him. He can't be allowed to get away with this. We don't deserve this. We don't deserve to lose our Lycans!"
Nyx laughs, 'She really has no idea we can scent her, does she!'
'Maybe not, but if we can scent her, there's a good chance she can shift.' I reply. 'Those ropes won't hold her in that chair.'
"Seraphina showed you where our pack was?"
"Yes. She told me you're her half-sister. I couldn't believe my luck that you're the Alpha. I've been trying to find ways to bring Levi down for years."
"It does sound like you're lucky." The intensity of my desire to kill her grew with each passing second.
"You were hidden for so long." She mutters, avoiding eye contact.
"I wasn't hiding."
"I didn't mean it like that." She shakes her head, trying to get a blonde strand out of her face. "I mean you were kept away for so long, and then this happened to me. I had no way of finding you, not until Seraphina."
"And it just so happened that Seraphina is my half-sister." Hearing myself call Seraphina my half-sister out loud made my skin crawl.
"Right! Pure luck." She smiles.
"Not a setup at all."
I watch the color drain from her face. "I don't know what you're talking about. How could it be a setup? Why would I give up losing my Lycan?"
'She keeps playing the same tune.' Nyx growls.
Alexander watches me from behind Evelyn. Maybe he knew I was seconds away from tearing out her heart. But perhaps we could use her to lure out Levi.
