Chapter 0274
I can see the confusion in her eyes. She never told me about having sons.
"What the hell was that?" Zachary snaps at me as Athena walks out.
"Watch your tone. I'm not here to assist you." I snap back. His gaze drops to the gun on the desk. "Go ahead, try something. You think that's my only weapon?"
"ENOUGH!" Alexander commands.
"You noticed something when you were observing Athena, didn't you?" Brianna asks, her eyebrows furrowed. "Just like how you didn't shoot me."
I ignore her question and focus on their leader.
"She was bound, correct?" My estimate was two or three times, which should have been fatal.
"Four." Alexander reveals. "How did you know that?"
"Hunter." I mutter, trying to process how she survived four bindings. It revealed one undeniable truth - her incredible power. "Does she shift?"
"Not anymore. Why?"
"Her Lycan is pushing the darkness onto her."
"That makes no sense. We don't have Lycan spirits." Zachary shakes his head at me. "If that causes turning Rogue, it's illogical."
"You might not, but I know what I witnessed."
They stare at me like I'm insane. A familiar look that almost makes me laugh. So predictable.
"I'm not playing games." Alexander states, his eyes locked on me.
"Yet you let those monsters into your lives. You know that's what Rogues do, right? They manipulate to get what they want."
I see Zachary clench his jaw. His anger is almost amusing. "I'm not a Rogue anymore." He seethes.
"So you claim. Doesn't mean I believe you. I trust what I see."
"What does that mean?"
"Exactly what it sounds like."
"Zachary, check on Isabella." Alexander orders.
"Another Lycan?" I muse. How many were hidden here?
"No. My sister."
"I'd want someone more reliable watching my sister."
"They're mates."
"Another one? What's happening here?" Wolves and Lycans don't just pair up. I've studied Lycans and Rogues for years. Wolves were never part of the equation, certainly not as mates. "Who was mated first?"
"Athena and myself. Why?"
"You know that's not normal."
"World is changing." Brianna murmurs.
"Yet some things remain constant." I stand and move to the window, processing their words. "What's the connection?"
"What?" Blondie mutters.
"Athena and Alexander. Zachary and Isabella. Blondie and Brianna. Who else?"
"It was Julian and Sophia. Julian is Isabella's twin. Sophia died." Alexander presses his lips together and glances at Blondie. "Now Julian is mated to Seraphina."
I raise an eyebrow. That was unexpected.
"It's not what you think." Brianna tells me. "He got involved in some strange business with her and now he's dying in the hospital. They aren't fated mates. He claimed her."
"Did he now?"
"He was angry with me." Alexander groans.
"I can end his suffering." I offer.
"I can handle that myself." He snaps back.
Fucking Wolves. So protective of their pack members. Nothing worse than prolonged suffering. Dragging out death hoping for recovery.
"Can he communicate with her?"
"He's in a coma."
It takes tremendous force to put a Wolf in a coma. Something else must be happening. I know he won't wake up. They never do. Yet looking at Alexander, I see he still hopes for recovery. If he survives, it would be a fucking miracle.
