Chapter 0131

โ€œYouโ€™re not going to like what I have to say.โ€ He muttered, avoiding my gaze.

โ€œAthena ran?โ€

โ€œSebastian and a few others are searching for her. Theyโ€™re trying to find her before Ethan does.โ€

I sat up coughing, the sound of sirens growing louder.

โ€œWe need to leave.โ€ I said as he helped me stand.

โ€œYou want to go home? What about Sophia?โ€

I shook my head. โ€œWe just need to go. I canโ€™t deal with humans right now. I need somewhere to think.โ€

We moved quickly. When I glanced down, the wound had vanished completely, as if it never existed. Relief washed over me. Death had never frightened me before. But now it wasnโ€™t just about me. I had a mate. And twins on the way.

We found an abandoned house and collapsed on the dusty floor.

โ€œI hate humans.โ€ I muttered.

โ€œThat guy who hit us?โ€ Julian asked quietly.

โ€œWho else?โ€

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t a human.โ€ Julian murmured. โ€œYou were knocked out. The driver stopped, got out, and looked in at us. Then he laughed and drove off.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re saying it was a Wolf?โ€

He nodded. โ€œWhose territory are we in?โ€

โ€œItโ€™s neutral ground.โ€ I closed my eyes and tried linking Athena again.

โ€œAre you sure?โ€

โ€œI know every pack from here to Nathanโ€™s territory. This is neutral.โ€

โ€œI think you might be wrong.โ€

When I looked at him, he was staring past me.

I turned. A large black shadow crouched at the top of the stairs. Beady eyes fixed on us. It slowly rose to its full height, moving into the light. A Lycan.

It growled, drool dripping from bared teeth.

โ€œAnother fucking one!โ€ Julian snapped. I glared at him.

โ€˜I thought we killed them all.โ€™ Titan muttered. โ€˜How did one escape?โ€™

I focused on the Lycan. โ€œWeโ€™re looking for someone. A girl with red hair. Sheโ€™s like you. Taken from her home. From her family.โ€

It growled again.

โ€œMy mate is a female Lycan Alpha.โ€ I tried, hoping for some reaction.

It moved away from the stairs, disappearing around the corner. Minutes later, a blonde female took its place.

โ€œA young girl?โ€ The blonde asked.

โ€œSheโ€™s fifteen.โ€

โ€œWhy are you looking for her? Youโ€™re Wolves.โ€

โ€œLike I said, my mate is a Lycan Alpha. The girl is like a little sister to her.โ€

โ€œI had one of those once.โ€ Her brown eyes remained fixed on me.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry.โ€

She snorted, folding her arms.

โ€œDid you kill her?โ€ Julian asked.

Her face hardened. She pulled her collar aside, revealing a bite mark on her collarbone, just like Sophiaโ€™s. โ€œWhat do you think?!โ€

โ€œHow long ago were you bitten?โ€ I asked.

โ€œWhy does it matter, Wolf?!โ€

Titan laughed. Normally I would have too. But maybe we could use her help.

โ€œWe were attacked back in my pack. The ones leading it had bitten humans. Changed them forever.โ€

She leaped the entire staircase, landing inches from me. โ€œWas her name Victoria?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

She smiled. โ€œI canโ€™t wait to kill her.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re too late. His mate killed her.โ€ Julian muttered.

The blonde frowned, then smiled. It made her look dangerous. As she smiled, I noticed an old scar above her lip.

โ€œGood.โ€ she muttered.

โ€œYou got away?โ€ I asked. I wanted to know how sheโ€™d survived without a pack.

She rolled her eyes as if it were obvious. Turning away, she headed back toward the stairs. โ€œI havenโ€™t seen the girl you described.โ€

โ€œPlease,โ€ Julian muttered.

The blonde looked back at him. โ€œYou care for her?โ€

He didnโ€™t answer, but I saw it in his eyes.

โ€œThe man who had her kidnapped isnโ€™t a good man.โ€

โ€œWho is?!โ€ she snarled.

โ€œThey want her to produce pups.โ€

Her eyes narrowed to slits. โ€œDidnโ€™t you say sheโ€™s fifteen?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

She sucked in her cheeks, staring at us. โ€œIโ€™ll help you, Wolf. But I want something in return.โ€

โ€œWhat?โ€

โ€œMoney.โ€

โ€œSeriously?โ€ Julian interrupted. โ€œSheโ€™s one of you.โ€

โ€œI named my price. Take it or leave it!โ€

โ€œDeal.โ€ I muttered, holding out my blood-covered hand.

She shook it. โ€œYou can call me Brianna.โ€
