Chapter 0421
"Is it all the Wolves or just specific ones?" Alexander questions, and it hits me that we overlooked the most obvious source. The Lycans would know exactly which Wolves were causing trouble.
"I can provide a few names." Caleb sighs, his blue eyes locking onto mine. "I am Liam's father. I will speak with him again."
"He's already lying to you. Talking won't accomplish anything." Luc snaps sharply.
"Has Liam ever behaved like this before?" I ask, hoping Luc will just be quiet for a moment.
"Never. He always received excellent reports from his previous school. We've never had problems with him at home, aside from some typical sibling rivalry. But that's normal, isn't it?"
"Oh, absolutely." Alexander mutters. "Just wait until your daughter is old enough to develop an attitude. Younger sisters are experts at creating chaos." He adds. "Why do you ask?" Caleb queries.
"As you know, Lottie has been assisting Athena with any Lycans that have appeared. She does it because she takes after her biological father." I murmur, gesturing toward Luc. "She perceives things others cannot."
"Are you suggesting she saw something in my son?"
"That is precisely what Zachary is implying." Luc scoffs.
"So what is our course of action?" Caleb asks. "They both need to attend school, but if incidents like this will keep occurring with the Hunter's daughter..." He shrugs. "I'm already monitoring my stepdaughter closely. Zoe will be devastated if Liam is barred from school. And separating them isn't really a solution, is it?"
"Actually," Alexander mutters. "Maybe that is exactly what we should do. Some children could have lessons in the morning and finish at lunch. Others start after lunch. That way, they aren't in the same classroom together."
"I agree to that arrangement." Caleb nods.
"I suppose." Luc grumbles.
"Keep Liam home until Monday. My direct orders if anyone questions it. We'll implement the new schedule then."
"Thank you, Alpha Alexander." Caleb rises to his feet and gives a respectful nod to me and Alexander. He then pointedly walks past Luc without any acknowledgment.
"Do you believe it will work?"
"There's only one way to find out. Luc, close the door."
He gives Alexander a strange look but obeys the command.
"Theodore is alive."
"How do you know that?" I ask, surprised.
"He mind-linked me."
"Where is he?" I press.
He takes a deep breath, almost as if he didn't want to tell us. "He's still with Levi."
"You have got to be fucking kidding me!" Luc snaps.
Alexander shakes his head and closes his eyes with a sigh. "Levi is attempting to convince Theodore that they are mates."
"He's completely delirious." Luc scoffs.
Alexander's eyes fix on Luc. "You know a great deal. I'm wondering if you can confirm something for me?"
"If I can, I will."
"What is a Witch's mark?"
"I've never seen one myself. I can only relay what I've heard, and it might not be entirely accurate."
"Continue." Alexander growls.
"It was once said that the mark served to distinguish them from the rest of us. But over time, as the world evolved, it changed."
"Changed?" I mutter.
"The mark began to mutate. In its place, almost like a scar, are the initials..." He stops and stares back at Alexander. It was almost amusing to see him speechless.
"Initials?" I press, eager for the information.
His eyes shift to me. "The initials of his mate. Levi is his mate, isn't he?"
"It is appearing increasingly likely."
"Has he switched sides?" Luc asks as I try to process this revelation.
"No. His intentions are very clear. But he needs to resolve a few matters on his end first."
"We must leave immediately to retrieve him. You can locate him now that you've linked him." Luc suggests.
"He doesn't want us to. Not yet. I am aware of his plan. We simply need to be patient." Alexander states.
"Since when is Theodore gay?"
They both stop to stare at me. Luc is the first to laugh, followed by Alexander.
"You've been here a while, correct?" Luc asks through his laughter.
"Yes."
"Well, it's fairly obvious." He replies.
I look over at Alexander, who is forcing his lips together to suppress his amusement. "You might have just improved my mood."
