Chapter 0212

Seraphina

He was a complete bastard.

He never told me she could control her shift.

He never mentioned sheโ€™d been bound multiple times.

I watched thick claws push out from her fingertips.

Her eyes shifted from soft blue to solid black.

Iโ€™d never seen anything like it.

How was I supposed to handle this without all the facts?

These cheap clothes didnโ€™t help.

The fabric scratched my skin raw.

I was supposed to play innocent.

Mentioning her pups ruined that.

Too eager. I had to reset.

I stepped back and raised my hands.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry.โ€ The word burned like acid.

I never apologize.

โ€œTalking about what he didโ€ฆ it sets me off.โ€ Not a lie.

Our fatherโ€™s actions enraged me beyond anything.

I wanted to fix his mistakes.

โ€œLeave!โ€ Alexander ordered.

He held my half-sister tightly.

โ€œIโ€™m goingโ€ฆ Iโ€™m going.โ€ I reached into the awful jeans.

I pulled out a small card.

Tossed it between us.

โ€œIf you want answers, meet me here.โ€

I turned away.

This wasnโ€™t part of the plan.

But seeing her made my resentment boil.

It took everything to keep it buried.

To hide what I felt.

Alexander sent someone to follow me out.

He kept his distance. Didnโ€™t speak.

His long dark hair blew in the wind.

I hate men with long hair.

I didnโ€™t look back after the gates.

That would seem confrontational.

Right now, they needed to be the villains.

A mile down the road, Julian leaned against my Porsche.

He looked powerful in a black suit.

So much more in control than when we first met.

โ€œThat was fast.โ€ He straightened up.

โ€œYou left out a lot of details.โ€ I stopped in front of him.

He avoided my eyes. Eyes Iโ€™d grown to love.

โ€œI need to know everything if weโ€™re doing this.โ€

โ€œThe plan was to get to know her.โ€

โ€œYou shouldโ€™ve told me everything.โ€

โ€œWould it have changed anything?โ€

I pressed my lips tight.

โ€œHow is she alive after being bound?โ€ I snapped.

โ€œI donโ€™t know,โ€ he muttered. โ€œWe know of four times.โ€

โ€œFour? No one survives that twice.โ€

That bitch is stronger than I thought.

โ€œAnd she controls her shift?โ€

โ€œShe shifted?โ€ He sounded surprised.

โ€œShe started to.โ€

He nodded, sucking in his cheeks.

I grabbed his face, forcing him to look at me.

He may control things in the bedroom.

But when it comes to my life, I call the shots.

โ€œI have Aspen,โ€ he mumbled.

โ€œWolf Alpha blood.โ€ I released him.

He rubbed his cheeks. โ€œSame for her. She has a Lycan spirit. Nyx.โ€

โ€œAre you serious? Why didnโ€™t you tell me?โ€

โ€œI didnโ€™t know it mattered.โ€

โ€œEverything matters! Do you want this to fail?โ€

He always said this is what he wanted.

But in my experience, secrets mean doubt.

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œThen tell me everything. Every detail. Get in the car.โ€

I drove to the new apartment.

Itโ€™s farther from the city but closer to Obsidian Howl.

โ€œYou got in okay,โ€ he said as we hit the main road.

โ€œYou were right about one thing.โ€ I kept my eyes ahead.

โ€œThey thought I was her. But Iโ€™m never wearing these again.โ€

Athena needed to get her act together.

โ€œWhat did you think?โ€ he asked softly.

โ€œOf Athena? Our fatherโ€™s genes are strong.โ€ Thatโ€™s all I shared.

My mind raced through next steps.

โ€œInside.โ€ I pulled under the porch.

He rolled his eyes before getting out.

I sat alone for a few minutes.

Why did Alexander stop her shift?

He held her, whispering as she stared at me.
