Chapter 0391

I keep rocking gently until Evrinโ€™s tight grip begins to loosen.

Heโ€™s finally drifting off after being restless all night.

โ€œSo we just wait?โ€ I whisper softly.

Alexander gives a single nod. โ€œYes. But Iโ€™d still rather you stay indoors. I wonโ€™t let Levi get near you again.โ€

I offer a faint smile. โ€œIโ€™ll kill him if he tries.โ€

โ€œNot if he drugs you first.โ€

โ€œLet me take him. Youโ€™re exhausted.โ€ Alexander carefully lifts a crying Evrin from my arms.

Itโ€™s nearly three in the morning, and he hasnโ€™t settled since sunset.

Nothing calmed him.

Heโ€™s clingy but rejects touch. He wouldnโ€™t even stay near his twin.

Thankfully, Logan is still asleep in the nursery. We moved Evrin here so he wouldnโ€™t wake.

โ€œIs he sick?โ€ My voice trembles. Itโ€™s agony when you canโ€™t comfort your own child.

Worse, because I feel his pain. I just donโ€™t know where itโ€™s coming from.

Alexander shakes his head. โ€œHe ate. Diaper was full. No fever.โ€ He paces slowly, cradling our son like a newborn. โ€œI linked Theodore. Heโ€™s coming to check.โ€

โ€œYou do think somethingโ€™s wrong?โ€ I canโ€™t hide the worry.

โ€œNo. But youโ€™re worried, so heโ€™ll reassure you.โ€

He keeps pacing, but Evrinโ€™s cries donโ€™t stop.

When the knock comes, relief washes over me.

Theodore examines Evrin thoroughly, then shakes his head at Alexander.

โ€œThere has to be something,โ€ I insist, pulling Evrin close.

โ€œPhysically, heโ€™s perfect,โ€ Theodore sighs. โ€œNo fever. No joint issues. No swelling. Iโ€™m sorry, Athena. Itโ€™s not medical. How long has he been crying?โ€

โ€œAlmost six hours,โ€ Alexander replies.

โ€œAnd he hasnโ€™t cried himself to sleep?โ€ Theodore asks.

Alexander shakes his head, lips pressed thin. Heโ€™s worried too.

โ€œWhat about Luc?โ€ I ask impatiently. โ€œMaybe he can sense something?โ€

โ€œFind him,โ€ Alexander orders Theodore.

โ€œNo need. Iโ€™m here.โ€ Luc strolls in wearing only gray joggers. โ€œI was training late. Heard the kid crying for hโ€”โ€

He stops. Stares at my sobbing son. A frown forms. โ€œHeโ€™s the younger twin, right?โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œInteresting. How old were you when you first shifted?โ€

โ€œA few days old. But then I was bound.โ€

Alexander holds up a hand. โ€œYou think heโ€™s trying to shift?โ€

โ€œExactly.โ€ Luc steps closer. โ€œHis bones are trying to break. The crying masks the sound. You remember how painful shifting was after your binding broke? Thatโ€™s what he feels. Constant pain as his Lycan fights to emerge.โ€ His hazel eyes meet mine. โ€œHeโ€™s scared.โ€

โ€œScared?โ€ Theodore asks.

Luc nods. โ€œTrying to hold it back.โ€

โ€œYou have to show him, Athena,โ€ Alexander says as Evrin keeps crying. He turns to the others. โ€œLeave us.โ€

Evrin squirms as I hand him back. I wait for Luc and Theodore to go and start undressing.

'Are we really doing this?' Nyx murmurs.

'Iโ€™ll do anything for our son.'

I close my eyes and let my Lycan rise.

Bones crack. Hair sprouts. Claws extend.

I open my eyes, fully transformed, to find Evrin silent. Staring.

Hours of crying finally ceased.

His blue eyes are wide. He leans against Alexanderโ€™s chest, propped by his arm.

I expect a scream. Instead, he reaches out. Beckoning.

I step closer. His bones crack.

A soft whimper. Tiny claws appear at his fingertips.

Minutes later, Alexander holds a small black Lycan pup instead of our little boy.
