Chapter 0250

I ran my tongue over my teeth, tasting the lingering scent of blood in the air.

My focus narrowed on the direction of Obsidian Howl.

I started running.

Cars screeched to a halt as I flew past them.

Humans should hide from me.

But maybe it was time they learned about the monsters living among them.

Camera flashes lit up the night.

Screams echoed through the streets.

I should care about the exposure.

Knowledge of me meant knowledge of others.

That would give her more power.

My heart hammered against my ribs.

I refused to slow down.

I refused to stop.

Killing Rogues and other scum never gave me this feeling.

This was different.

A raw sense of freedom.

A deep desire awakening from within my core.

A hunger.

A hunger I hadn't felt in years.

An abandoned red car made me skid to a halt.

Miles away from Obsidian Howl.

The doors hung open.

One swung loosely, barely attached.

A flat tire slanted the vehicle awkwardly.

Smoke seeped from under the crumpled hood.

A massive dent suggested a violent collision.

The smell of blood made me drool.

I was so damn hungry.

It took less than a second to locate the source.

They had hit a deer.

I couldn't resist any longer.

My teeth tore into the flesh.

I buried my snout deep, ripping it apart effortlessly.

The meat slid down my throat perfectly.

The blood.

Oh, the blood.

I could bathe in it.

"Are you done?"

My eyes snapped up, another strip of meat hanging from my jaws.

Zachary stood there, arms folded across his broad chest.

Brianna hovered behind him.

My mate was nowhere.

Where the hell was Alexander?

I rose to my full height.

Zachary didn't flinch.

He didn't run screaming like the humans.

He stared, completely unafraid.

Why should he be?

He was just like me.

Another set of eyes peered from the dark trees to my left.

More to the right.

By the smell, even more behind me.

I still couldn't scent Alexander.

But I knew he wasn't dead.

That bastard had screwed me over.

I would gladly shove a knife through his heart for this betrayal.

"I asked you a question!" he snapped.

A deep, gargled laugh rumbled through me.

Why did they always think they could win?

I win.

I always win.

My stomach growled, demanding more.

The deer was delicious but insufficient.

It would never be enough.

"He's alive," Brianna muttered.

My eyes locked onto her.

"I had to knock him out, but he's breathing." Her gaze flicked to Zachary. "Probably not for much longer."

I was wrong.

He hadn't abandoned me.

She had gained the upper hand.

"I will kill you." I seethed, my focus entirely on her.

I bet she tasted good.

I would drain her dry.

Drink her blood like fine wine.

But I stood no chance now.

Too many surrounded me.

My time would come.

I would rip them apart.

Devour their flesh.

Take what should have been mine years ago.

I stepped back, eyes scanning the visible threats.

My ears and nose pinpointed the others' locations.

I needed to escape untouched.

There was a gap.

I moved fast.

My large frame slipped through before they could react.

Zachary called out to let me go.

Unexpected words from a Rogue.

It told me he had something far more sinister planned.
