Chapter 0152

My veins turn to ice at the sound of her name.

Heโ€™s targeting her again.

โ€œAlexander is already heading there with Theodore. But you know the layout better than we do.โ€

โ€œAlpha Athena?โ€ I whisper.

Iโ€™m torn.

Stay and protect her?

Or go to protect my mate?

This could all be a diversion.

A trick to pull us away from what my brother truly wants.

โ€œIโ€™ll handle Athena. Go.โ€ Sebastian insists.

โ€œIf anything shows up here, link Alexander. Iโ€™ll be with him.โ€ I snap.

I bolt down the stairs and out the door.

The hospital isnโ€™t far.

But itโ€™s far enough.

He could have already hurt her.

Alexander and Theodore are searching when I arrive.

โ€œSheโ€™s gone.โ€ Alexander growls. โ€œWhatever he did, sheโ€™s unconscious. I canโ€™t reach her through the link.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™ve turned the whole place upside down. Nothing.โ€ Theodore reports. โ€œNot a strand of hair. No blood. Even Isabellaโ€™s scent justโ€ฆ vanishes.โ€

โ€œI can smell him.โ€ I mutter.

I move around the small desk in the center of the room.

The air hits me.

Strawberries.

Mixed with pure, sharp fear.

She was here.

Hiding beneath this desk.

โ€œHow long?โ€ I ask.

โ€œFor what?โ€ Alexander snarls.

โ€œBetween her linking you and you getting here. How long?โ€

โ€œA couple of minutes. I came straight here. Why?โ€

Did she know he was inside?

Is that why she hid?

I circle the desk.

He stood right here.

Probably taunting her.

โ€œHe didnโ€™t take her out the front. Too risky.โ€ I tell them.

โ€œThe back doorโ€™s been locked since the last Lycan incident.โ€ Theodore says. โ€œIt leads straight into the woods. No other way in or out.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s always a way.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ll link my men. Weโ€™ll sweep the forest.โ€ Alexander offers.

โ€œNo.โ€ I command.

โ€œSheโ€™s my sister.โ€

โ€œIf you want her breathing, donโ€™t send anyone else. Heโ€™s luring me out. More men, and heโ€™ll kill her. Then everyone else. They play with their food. But too many options? They just slaughter everything. You said it yourself, Alexander. You canโ€™t scent him.โ€

I move through the halls.

I find the back door quickly.

Just as Theodore said.

No signs of forced entry.

A curtain near a closed window flutters.

Then I see them.

Claw marks around the edges.

A small gap where the window was poorly refitted.

Letting in a draft.

He removed the entire window.

Slipped inside unseen.

Left the same way.

โ€œHe dragged her through the window.โ€ I tell them.

โ€œShe would have fought him.โ€ Alexander glares. โ€œSheโ€™s a good fighter.โ€

โ€œYou said it. Sheโ€™s out cold. Canโ€™t fight if youโ€™re unconscious.โ€

I slam my shoulder into the back door.

It takes two hits.

The door splinters off its hinges.

I rip off my shirt.

My body cracks, preparing to shift.

Itโ€™s been too long.

โ€œWeโ€™re coming too.โ€ Alexander says, tearing his own shirt off. โ€œThis is my pack. He has my sister. You donโ€™t get to order me around!โ€ His crimson eyes narrow at me.

I remove my belt and boots.

I just stare.

He wonโ€™t like this.

I thought I could keep the secret longer.

โ€œYou canโ€™t track them. I can.โ€ I shift fully into my Lycan form.

My muscles stretch and groan.

I drop to all fours.

I run my snout along the ground.

I suck in his scent.

I catch a trace of Isabella.

Faint.

But enough.

I can find her.

โ€œWe can help! Just lead the way!โ€ Alexander insists. โ€œYou canโ€™t do this alone. Thatโ€™s not how we operate!โ€

I growl at him, low and deep.

โ€œI can. Because I was once like him.โ€
