Chapter 0431

Theodore

โ€œThatโ€™s all he said?โ€ Levi questioned.

โ€œYes. He expects us there by six tomorrow morning. Or your sister dies. Heโ€™s waiting for confirmation.โ€

He paced back and forth, restless. โ€œImpressive, Theodore. You woke me just to say that. Couldโ€™ve stayed quiet. Let him kill Evelyn.โ€

โ€œHe ordered me to tell you. He is my Alpha. I obeyed.โ€

โ€œRight. But he wouldnโ€™t have known if you kept it secret. As your mate, I think youโ€™re trying to make me happy. Telling the truth. You know I want Evelyn back.โ€ He winked. โ€œBut what does your Alpha really want? You, I assume. Youโ€™re valuable to him.โ€ He ran a hand through his short blonde hair. โ€œNever had to choose before. My sister or my mate? Difficult.โ€

โ€œI am not your mate. I gave you my birth name.โ€

โ€œTheodore, you lie. Not good.โ€ He checked the chains on my wrists. โ€œTell your Alpha Iโ€™ll be there.โ€

โ€œHe wonโ€™t hand over Evelyn if Iโ€™m not with you.โ€

โ€œYes, he will.โ€ Confidence radiated from him. His eyes glowed. โ€œIf he knows whatโ€™s good for him.โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t know Alexander like I do. Heโ€™ll see Iโ€™m not there and tear her apart. Iโ€™ve seen it happen.โ€

โ€œThen heโ€™ll face my wrath. You might not believe it, but I love my sister. Even though sheโ€™s difficult. Iโ€™ll do anything to keep her alive.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™ve done nothing while she rots in a dungeon.โ€ I muttered, frustrated. Heโ€™d given me nothing but coded answers.

He squatted before me, leaning close. His breath was stale. He needed to brush his teeth. โ€œBut sheโ€™s safe there. Everyone is safe while sheโ€™s locked up. It would be a bloodbath if she got out.โ€ He stood. โ€œTell your Alpha weโ€™ll be there. Iโ€™ll decide when everything is revealed.โ€

I linked Alexander and confirmed.

โ€œYou keep saying sheโ€™s safe in the dungeon. What does that mean? Why no hurry to get her out? Why a bloodbath? You think she can kill everyone?โ€

โ€œNo need to hurry when I know where she is.โ€ He didnโ€™t elaborate. Odd. I didnโ€™t buy it. I needed to know why Evelyn was safer inside. And why everyone else was, too.

โ€œSheโ€™s a Lycan. You confirmed it. She confirmed it.โ€

โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œIs she a weapon?โ€

He smiled. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Theodore. Iโ€™ll keep you safe. She wonโ€™t hurt you. She wonโ€™t be allowed to.โ€

Allowed? He thought he was powerful enough to stop her.

โ€œAre you afraid of her? Is that why you blocked her abilities? You said it was because she touched your things. I donโ€™t believe that. Youโ€™re hiding something.โ€

โ€œSo curious. All will be revealed in time. Get some sleep. Early start tomorrow.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t sleep with your riddles. Is my pack in danger?โ€

โ€œHavenโ€™t decided.โ€

โ€œYou decide? You said Evelyn could cause a bloodbath.โ€

He smiled. His wide sage green eyes looked unhinged. Why would the Moon Goddess think he was my match?

โ€œWho are you after?โ€ I pushed. No answer. โ€œI could tell Alexander to kill her!โ€

He grabbed my face roughly, lifting me off the floor. Strength surprised me. โ€œYou will do no such thing. Understand!โ€

He dropped me with a thud and strode out. He returned with a syringe. โ€œBetter yet, letโ€™s make sure you canโ€™t!โ€

Levi stabbed the needle into my neck before I could react. Instantly, weakness washed over me. My senses faded. I tried to link Alexander. Nothing.

โ€œAnother reason Iโ€™m glad Iโ€™m not your mate!โ€ I spat.

A sharp, painful slap hit my face. It burned. A red handprint marked my skin. One that wouldnโ€™t heal for days.
