Chapter 0065
โCome with me.โ His voice was low as he released me.
I trailed him into his office.
Something about this room always put me on edge.
It felt like impending doom.
Like everything was about to fall apart.
โSebastian mentioned you had a strange feeling.โ
I nodded. โRight before Dominic showed up. I just... I canโt describe it.โ
โYou canโt explain it.โ He sat behind his desk, leaving me standing.
โNo. It just felt wrong.โ
โWhat did she say to you?โ
โThat Dominic wanted to see me. That...โ I frowned, her words still confusing. โHe wanted to remind me.โ
โRemind you of what?โ
โShe didnโt get to finish. Theodore interrupted.โ
I shook my head. โBeta Sebastian. He was protecting me. Just like Theodore.โ
He ignored my mention of Theodore.
โI should have killed Dominic when I had the chance.โ He scowled, scribbling on a notepad.
I sank into the chair opposite him.
What was he writing?
โAlpha Alexander, how did they know where I was?โ
โA question for Theodore once heโs healed.โ
โTheodore?โ
โIโm not accusing him. But he saw Victoria first. I need to know what happened right before she attacked him.โ
He looked up. โYouโre sure youโre not hurt?โ
โJust confused.โ I mumbled, trying to piece it together.
โIโll handle it.โ He changed the subject. โDid you buy anything nice?โ
โA few things. Isabella has them.โ I pulled the credit card from my pocket and slid it across the desk.
He picked it up and smiled. โI told you to buy whatever you wanted. You barely spent anything.โ
His crimson eyes locked on mine. โThe city overwhelmed your senses, didnโt it?โ
โThe bookstore was the first quiet place. Theodore said it took him almost a year to adjust.โ
โIt did. Especially his hearing. Thatโs why he lives on the outskirts. Fewer people. Less noise. Unfortunately, you donโt have that option.โ
โBecause I canโt protect myself?โ
โBecause I want you in my bed every night. Not hiding in some remote house.โ
Alpha Alexander took me with him when he got word that Theodore was fully healed.
Theodore was sitting on the edge of the same bed Iโd thought I was dying in.
His hair was down, loose around his shoulders.
Alexander drummed his fingers quietly on the bed frame.
Theodoreโs eyes found me first. He jumped up. โAre you okay?โ
I nodded as Alpha Alexander gave my shoulder a reassuring squeeze. โAre you?โ
โThat bastard came out of nowhere.โ
โWhich one?โ Alpha Alexander asked.
โWhat do you mean?โ
โThe blonde, Victoria. She knocked you out first, right?โ
โShe asked me to reach a book for her. When I stretched up, she hit me from behind with something heavy.โ
โEver met her before?โ Alpha Alexander pressed.
โNever.โ
โAnd the other one? When they left, he came from above. Sliced down my spine.โ He glanced at me. โDonโt worry. Iโm healed. I heal fast.โ
โYouโve never spoken to them? Interacted before?โ
โAre you asking if I set this up? Alexander, why would I risk my life? You know Iโm smarter than that. He nearly missed my heart. Iโd be an idiot to cross you. Iโve seen what you do to your enemies. Iโd rather be on your side.โ
My eyes flicked to Alpha Alexander, but he didnโt notice. Iโd only seen him kill Marcus. How dark could he get?
โRight.โ Alpha Alexander murmured, turning away.
โAm I free to go?โ
โSure.โ
โAre we still having a tutoring session tonight?โ Theodore asked me.
โNo. Not tonight.โ Alpha Alexander answered before I could speak.
He didnโt sound angry. But he didnโt sound happy either. It made me nervous. He was unpredictable.
Theodore left without another word.
Alpha Dane just stood there, expression unreadable.
โAre we going back to the house?โ I asked after a long silence.
My question seemed to snap him out of it. He smiled and nodded.
For the rest of the evening, he barely spoke.
But he watched my every move.
It made me nervous.
It was only when I was getting into bed that he finally spoke.
โWere you accidentally linking them?โ
