“What the hell is a Lycan?” Sebastian demanded sharply.

“Exactly what you witnessed. Half wolf, half human.” His blue eyes locked onto mine. “Did you get her out safely?”

“What do you mean, true brother?” I pressed.

“Athena only has one brother, and Dominic isn’t him.”

“Stop lying to me!”

“I’ll explain everything.” He extended his arms in a placating gesture.

“You’d be the first.” I snapped, my patience thinning.

“I’m not loyal to Silver Creek. I’m a Rogue.” Devon stated calmly.

‘He’s completely insane!’ Sebastian linked me.

“Rogue?” That term wasn’t used among wolves. You either belonged to a pack or you didn’t.

“Rejected by my pack.” Devon muttered, completely unfazed.

“Assuming you’re telling the truth. How does Athena not recognize you?”

“The same way she believes Dominic is her older brother.”

‘I can’t tell if he’s lying.’ Titan murmured.

Devon pointed to his eyes. “Our eyes. They’re identical, inherited from our mother and her lineage.”

“Anyone can have similar eyes.” I countered.

“You’re right, they can. But what color were Dominic’s eyes?” He smirked. “Why would I bother telling you this?”

“To buy yourself time!” I snapped.

‘I’m locked in a dungeon. I’m not going anywhere.’ He said sarcastically.

“Let me get this straight. You’re something called a Lycan. A man who claims to be Athena’s younger brother. Someone she doesn’t know. And Dominic isn’t related to her?”

“Almost correct. I didn’t say he wasn’t related. I said he wasn’t her brother!”

“Then who is he?”

“Our uncle!”

‘So she is an Alpha.’ Titan murmured in shock. ‘Being bound twice wasn’t just because she carries powerful blood. She’s an Alpha by birthright. The firstborn.’

‘If this is even true.’

“He didn’t believe the Alpha role should go to a female.” Devon continued. “He posed as an older brother due to the significant age gap with our father. The pack supported him.”

“How do you know all this?”

“I had an insider.”

“Had?”

“They came here to verify Athena arrived alive. I believe you killed him.”

“He shouldn’t have attacked my wolves.”

“I know. I told him to remain silent and unseen. Clearly, he failed both.”

“How old are you?”

“Nineteen.”

Three years younger than Athena. If her memories were indeed altered, she wouldn’t remember.

“I know you don’t believe me, but you saw me. You saw my Lycan form. My adoptive parents were horrified when I turned thirteen.” He smiled faintly. “Bless them.” His blue eyes returned to me. “She doesn’t know what she is, does she?”

He inspected his nails, picking at dried blood.

“Why didn’t you stop him?”

“Dominic? I tried, multiple times. They became more cunning. I couldn’t even approach the house.”

“They didn’t kill you?”

“Oh, they tried.” He exhaled heavily. “Please tell me she’s alive. I don’t need to see her. I don’t need to speak to her. I just need to know my sister finally escaped Dominic’s control and is safe.”

“She escaped.” I confirmed.

“Is she safe?”

“Yes.”

“Can we talk?” Sebastian asked, nodding toward the stairs.

“Do you think he’s telling the truth?” Sebastian asked as soon as we were outside.

“I’m not sure.”

“He wouldn’t say two words to me, but the moment you arrived, he told you everything.”

“Keep questioning him.” I muttered. “I need to research this Lycan information. No violence.” I warned. “If he truly is her brother, I don’t want her discovering you beat him to a pulp.”

“No violence.” He confirmed. “As always.”

In my office, Athena was slowly spinning in my desk chair. She didn’t hear me enter and quickly planted her feet on the carpet when she noticed me, stopping the chair.

“Looking for something?” I asked. The urge to tear her clothes off was becoming overwhelming.

She nodded. “You.”

“You should have had someone link me.”

“I could wait. I’m used to waiting.” She gave me a tight-lipped smile.

“How can I help you?”

“If I give you your heir, does that mean I can stay?”
