Chapter 0395
"Go be with your daughter." Zachary mutters. "You're always training, working, or with Hannah."
"Are you saying I'm neglecting my child?!" Luc's nostrils flare as he slams his hands on the table, visibly restraining himself.
Zachary glares back, confirming the accusation.
"Enough!" I snap. "This pack has enough issues without you two constantly fighting! Sort it out now!" They both fall silent. Seems Evrin isn't the only one pushed to his limits.
"I'm going to talk to my daughter and get the full story!" Luc snaps, storming out of the kitchen.
Zachary opens his mouth to speak, but I shoot him a warning look.
"Did she hurt him?" I ask once Luc is out of earshot.
"Not exactly."
"What does that mean?"
"She launched herself across the room at him. Used a chair to pin him down and threatened, 'My dad will kill your dad.' The teacher wants her home for a few days. She's asking Caleb to do the same with Liam."
"My dad will kill your dad? Was she referring to you or Luc?"
"I think we both know the answer. Not sure if Liam provoked her or if she's just having a rough day. No nightmares last night, even with Evrin crying constantly." His eyes shift to Logan. "Where is he, anyway?"
"Asleep." He doesn't know yet. I take a deep breath. "He shifted."
He blinks several times. "Sorry, what?"
"Evrin shifted. He was crying because his body was trying to shift and he was fighting it. I showed him my Lycan form, and he shifted. A beautiful little black Lycan. And Alexander hasn't spoken to me since."
"Trouble never comes alone, does it?"
I shake my head. Problems never arrive one at a time, not in this life.

"I'm sure it's nothing." Brianna tells me, cradling Luca. "He might just be in shock."
"He encouraged me to show Evrin. Now he's been avoiding me all day. I've linked him, and he keeps saying he has other things to do. It's not like him."
"As a bitten Lycan, remind me, how old are you when you first shift?"
"Around thirteen."
"Maybe that's it. He thought he had at least twelve more years to prepare. Alexander adores you, and I doubt anything scares him. But maybe this part of fatherhood does because it's beyond his control."
"I hope you're right." I mutter. "Maybe this will slow him down on wanting another."
"Another pup?"
"Yes. And before you get any ideas, I'm not pregnant."
She presses her lips together and raises a brow, turning away. "Do you ever wonder if the next one will be a Wolf like Alexander? That would be interesting, wouldn't it? Siblings that are a mix of Wolves and Lycans. Or one that's a blend of both. Is that even possible?"
"Who knows?" I tuck my legs under me. "Has Sebastian told you what's been happening?"
She nods.
"You knew Victoria quite well. Did she use Witches? I mean, she must haveโher and Dominic had me bound. What I'm asking is, did you ever meet any?"
"No. She rarely let me meet anyone. After running away, the older I got, the more I realized how wrong everything was. I was too blind to see it. I should have challenged them more when I learned about you. I should have recognized all the red flags instead of just accepting it."
She takes a deep breath. "I never encountered a Witch. Victoria and the others never mentioned one. We didn't even come across any when we lived with the Rogues."
I can see my mention of Victoria bothers her. Sebastian told Alexander she still carries guilt from the past and what she did to me. We never discuss it. It's like a dirty secret between us, though everyone else knows.
I haven't verbally forgiven her, but in my mind, I did long ago. She's become part of this family, my only female friend, and I can't imagine life without her.
She thinks she's being subtle, wiping away a tear as she kisses Luca's head.
"I forgive you."
