Chapter 0248

As if I would ever help them.

My loyalty belonged to my Alpha.

That vow would remain unbroken until my last breath.

โ€œLet me speak to her.โ€ He muttered lowly. โ€œTake your wine. Go shower. She can listen to me fucking you all night.โ€ His glare was pure venom.

Seriously?

It had been ages since Iโ€™d been intimate.

Now they wanted me to endure their twisted performance.

Total assholes!

Blair strutted away, snatching a bottle of wine from the shelf.

โ€œSheโ€™s unhinged.โ€ I whispered under my breath.

โ€œWhat do you expect when youโ€™re acting like a bitch!โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re not the one held hostage here.โ€

His hand closed around the knife handle protruding from my left leg.

He yanked it out violently.

Blood sprayed across both of us.

The wound sealed quickly.

He repeated the process with the knife in my right leg.

โ€œThatโ€™s going to piss her off.โ€ I muttered.

โ€œEnough!โ€ He growled.

โ€œWhy? Why her?โ€

โ€œDoes it matter?โ€ He shrugged.

โ€œI think I deserve to know if you plan to kill me.โ€

He dragged a chair over and sat directly in front of me.

โ€œNo, you donโ€™t.โ€ He said flatly.

โ€œWhat happened to you?โ€ I kept my voice low.

Blair was probably listening.

I needed to choose my words with care.

โ€œDid you choose her because of Athena? Iโ€™m sorry your life didnโ€™t turn out as you hoped. Iโ€™m sorry a Rogue killed your mate.โ€

โ€œYour kind is the reason she died.โ€

โ€œAnd now youโ€™re fucking one of us. An ex-Rogue, to be exact. That doesnโ€™t bother you? Quite a twist, donโ€™t you think?โ€

โ€œSometimes you canโ€™t control who you fall for.โ€

โ€œBecause she looks like Athena.โ€ He could deny it all he wanted. Iโ€™d never believe him. โ€œShe will destroy you, Julian.โ€

He rolled his dark eyes.

โ€œLet me guess.โ€ I looked him over. The sharp haircut. The expensive clothes. โ€œShe made you promises.โ€

โ€œI know what she wants.โ€

โ€œDo you, Julian? From what I see, sheโ€™s playing a game. A game like all the other Rogues. Only hers doesnโ€™t end in a feast of flesh.โ€ I had to make him see reason. โ€œOr maybe it will.โ€

โ€œShe wonโ€™t kill me. She loves me.โ€

He called that love? She treated him like garbage. โ€œJulian, Iโ€™ve seen a Rogue kill its own pup. You think claiming her will stop her from turning on you?โ€

He smirked. โ€œWhy are you really here, Brianna? To play games? What was it you said? โ€˜Takes one to know one.โ€™โ€ He stood and moved to the window. He peeked around the curtain, scanning the street. โ€œIs he coming?โ€

โ€œScared?โ€ I snorted.

He stormed toward me. His hand wrapped around my throat. โ€œIs he fucking coming?!โ€

I shrugged. It only made him squeeze tighter.

I could see how far sheโ€™d dragged him down. He was beyond helping me.

โ€œHow would I know?!โ€ I croaked out.

He sent my chair flying backward. Someone had developed a short temper.

I used those seconds on my back, hidden from his view, to link Athena.

Weโ€™d practiced all morning after I relayed last nightโ€™s intel.

My ability to hold a link with her was weak. Neither of us knew why.

I had to try. I was in over my head.

โ€˜379 Oak street.โ€™

That was all I managed before my chair was jerked upright.

I prayed she heard it.

His face was inches from mine. โ€œWhy havenโ€™t you shifted?โ€

โ€œI could ask you the same thing.โ€

โ€œI know you can.โ€ He continued. โ€œIโ€™ve seen it myself.โ€

โ€œDo I need to? From what I recall, you freaked the fuck out when you saw me. Have you seen Blairโ€™s Lycan?โ€ Theyโ€™d been together forever. He must have.

But he glanced away.

โ€œYou havenโ€™t?โ€ I was confused. She wasnโ€™t living like a Rogue anymore. I knew she struggled with the darkness like Zachary and Athena. But to not shift at all? Something was wrong.

โ€œShut up!โ€ He growled.

The perfect makeup. The flawless hair. Expensive clothes and shoes that would be ruined by shifting. She killed Gabriel with a gun, not her bare hands.

โ€œShe canโ€™t, can she?โ€
