Chapter 0500

He nodded while bouncing Logan on his knee. "That explains Dominic's desperation to strike a deal with me. Who were they preparing to battle?"

"You believe they intended to fight Silver Streams?"

"The urgency. His refusal to review the contract despite warnings. How readily he agreed to you accompanying me. It feels like we overlooked something crucial. Never before has an Alpha been so eager to sign a contract with me without examining my terms. Typically, I'm the one pushing for agreements, yet I always allow an opt-out clause if it suits my interests."

He made funny faces at Logan. "But Dominic was beyond desperate. Perhaps they weren't planning to attack, but rather to fortify their defenses. They clearly lacked the numbers for either scenario. They needed reinforcements urgently."

"What would they have been fighting over?"

His crimson eyes locked intensely with mine.

"Me?" I scoffed in disbelief.

"Your mother had passed. You had ascended to Alpha status. Though Dominic and Victoria moved quickly to bind you again. But you admitted it yourself - on your eighteenth birthday, you were temporarily unbound. If that state had persisted, Nyx might have appeared and they could have located you. They couldn't find you while you were bound."

"You genuinely think they were coming for me? That sounds completely insane."

"Considering everything we've learned, does it really?"

"They could have found me at any time since I've been here." I muttered.

"Perhaps they could have. Or perhaps circumstances changed. Maybe they realized your true potential and decided maintaining distance was wiser."

"That's utterly ridiculous."

"Is it? Reflect on how events unfolded. I'm not just referring to what happened to you. They were transforming Humans into Lycans long before attacking us, and long before I entered the picture. Zachary mentioned Victoria did it to create powerful weapons. Yes, they had plans for you, but they clearly had other schemes brewing, since I didn't know you until I saw you in Dominic's office."

"Even if we entertain this theory, why would they come for me?"

"To bring you back to your rightful home. To nurture you into the powerful female Alpha you're destined to become."

I shifted closer and placed Evrin on Alexander's lap before standing. I loosely retied my hair into a bun, ignoring the stray strands as I processed Alexander's words.

"That's too many hypotheticals!" I sighed heavily.

"Agreed. I'm merely exploring possible scenarios. Perhaps they knew your parents tried to abandon you. Maybe they were attempting to rescue you. Possibly they wanted to offer you a better life."

"Anything would have been better than the torment Dominic and the others put me through. Near starvation, constant dehydration, sometimes barely able to stand without the room spinning. All I ever wanted was acceptance for who I am."

"Like I said, these are just theories. We don't know what's true." He shrugged.

"But you think I should consider it?"

"I believe you should do whatever feels right for you. I'm not pushing you either way. This must be your decision alone."

"As I told Nyx, not one of them bothered to contact me when they easily could have. I won't chase after something that doesn't need chasing. Besides, I'm carrying another set of twins. Would you really let me travel north while pregnant, not knowing what we might face?"

"Valid point." He smiled.

"If Theodore can provide Zachary with substantial information worth investigating, I might consider it after the babies arrive." I patted my stomach. 'We could try searching through the links to find them.' Nyx suggested.

'No.' I responded firmly. I wanted this peace to continue. I needed to focus on my pack and my growing family. Especially with my constantly shifting son.
