Chapter 0054

Alexander

โ€œThat wasnโ€™t a test,โ€ I say softly.

She tilts her head. โ€œThen what was it?โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s the best tutor I could find for you. The only one I trust not to lay a hand on you. I need to know you can handle sessions alone with him. As much as I enjoy watching you learn, I have a pack to lead. I still need to track down Dominic and Victoria.โ€

Her frown slowly fades.

โ€œNot everyone wants to hurt you, Athena.โ€

She hesitates. โ€œHe... he asked why I was bound.โ€

โ€œI heard.โ€

โ€œWas it okay that I told him? Should I have said more?โ€

โ€œYou didnโ€™t lie.โ€ I offer a small smile. โ€œBut itโ€™s time I address the pack. Tell them everything. If you shift, Athena, and Iโ€™m not there...โ€ I trail off, holding her gaze. Fear lives in those blue eyes. Fear of their judgment.

โ€œI wonโ€™t shift.โ€

โ€œYou canโ€™t promise that. Caleb mentioned the signs. The first shift is often uncontrollable. It happens when you least expect it. Honestly, I thought it might happen when you saw Genevieve.โ€

Her eyes glisten with unshed tears.

She rarely asks about shifting. Itโ€™s clear she hopes to suppress it entirely.

โ€œCome. You must be hungry,โ€ I murmur before panic fully takes hold.

She nods silently and takes my hand, following me toward the house.

โ€œGo ahead to the kitchen. I need to check on something.โ€ Genevieveโ€™s scent lingers in my office. I wonโ€™t let Athena near her.

โ€˜What does she want now? We were clear,โ€™ Titan grumbles. He wants to stay with Athena. So do I. Her heat could start any moment.

Reluctantly, Athena releases my hand and heads toward the kitchen.

I push open the office door. โ€œWhat do you want?โ€

Genevieve beams from my chair. โ€œHey, Alexander. I was thinking we could grab a meal? Catch up, like old times.โ€

โ€˜Is she insane?โ€™ Titan snaps.

โ€œNo.โ€

โ€œCome on, just as friends,โ€ she pleads. โ€œI wonโ€™t try anything.โ€

โ€˜She doesnโ€™t know the meaning of friendship,โ€™ Titan scoffs. I fight back a laugh.

โ€œNo. Get out of my chair.โ€

She spins once before standing. โ€œIโ€™m not trying anything, Alexander. Itโ€™s just... I donโ€™t have friends here. I could use one. You know me better than anyone.โ€

โ€œYou shouldโ€™ve tried harder back then. I have a pack to run, Genevieve. I canโ€™t just disappear for dinner to โ€˜catch upโ€™.โ€

โ€œWe went out all the time when we were together.โ€

โ€œThe pack was smaller then. Itโ€™s grown tenfold since.โ€

Light catches her grey eyes as she grins. โ€œIโ€™ve noticed. I always knew youโ€™d be a great Alpha. You just need the right Luna beside you. Are you sure sheโ€™s the one?โ€ She twirls a strand of blonde hair.

โ€œDonโ€™t judge someone you donโ€™t know.โ€

She rolls her eyes. โ€œI saw her, Alexander. Sheโ€™s weak. Full of fear. Not fearless like me. A fearful Luna is a useless Luna.โ€

โ€œLike I said, you donโ€™t know her. Now, unless itโ€™s important, you can leave.โ€

Frowning, she heads to the door. โ€œShe wonโ€™t make you happy, Alexander.โ€

I watch until sheโ€™s completely left the house.

โ€˜Sheโ€™s never going to give up,โ€™ Titan mutters. โ€˜Weโ€™d be better off killing her.โ€™

โ€˜When the time comes, I wonโ€™t hesitate. But right now, sheโ€™s not a threat.โ€™

I find Isabella in the kitchen with Athena. Theyโ€™re sharing a tub of ice cream.
