Chapter 0187

She sticks her tongue out, deep in thought. I was just relieved she wasn't angry with me anymore.

"Do you have any idea why he's doing this?"

"Right now, I think his only goal is to torment everyone. He told Brianna he wanted to bring death and destruction. But the one thing I know about him is that he loves games. This has to be part of his game."

"Could he be working with someone else?"

"The other Rogues are dead."

"Alexander has enemies everywhere. With the contracts completed with other packs, who's to say someone else isn't helping him."

"Rogues don't work together. They wouldn't even team up for a hunt."

She puffs out her cheeks. "It must be difficult for you. Living here, in a pack."

"Actually, no." I sit beside her on the bed. "I spent years working alone as a hired assassin. Being a Rogue was freeing, but I always felt like something was missing. Then I found Brianna. She helped free me from that life. But being welcomed into this pack and finding youโ€”it felt like coming home."

She smiles at me and starts to speak, but we're interrupted by Brianna opening the door.

She's half-hidden behind the door frame, visibly shaking. This wasn't like her at all. She was usually fearless.

She holds up her trembling hands, blood dripping from both. "I...I'm...I'm sorry."

"Brianna?"

"I...went downstairs." She turns slowly, looking back down the hallway. "I was...I was too late."

She steps into the room. I see her shirt isn't just redโ€”it's soaked with dripping blood. "I tried," she whispers.

"Who, Brianna? Who's dead?"

"The office." She mutters, completely lost in shock.

"No... No. No. No, please tell me it's not." Isabella whispers.

"Who was in..." Sebastian's boys had been placed in the office.

I charge out of the room, slamming my hand on Alexander's door as I race past.

I sprint down the stairs to the office.

I find Sebastian on his knees, frozen like a statue with his boys in his arms.

Blood coated almost everything, even the curtains blowing in the breeze.

Alexander crashes into me from behind.

"Sebastian?" Alexander mutters quietly, his eyes scanning the room. He moves around me and crouches beside his Beta. "Sebastian, we will make him pay for this."

I move over and close the window, finding the tip of a finger. He had been in inhuman form. The boys had probably gone to let him in, thinking he was in danger.

I look back at the boys in Sebastian's arms. Both had all ten fingers, which meant the one left behind belonged to Gabriel.

The boys weren't even old enough to have their Wolves. They had been completely defenseless. They never stood a chance.

Isabella, Brianna, and Athena appear. All three turn their faces away from the horrific scene.

I walk to Isabella and kiss her forehead. "Stay here with Brianna and the others."

"Where are you going? You can't leaveโ€”we don't know where he is."

"I'm going to find him and kill him."

"He's dangerous."

"I'm worse."

Every part of me regrets not killing him that day. Causing just enough damage to bring him to the dungeon was my mistake. I won't make that mistake again. Even if it takes days, weeks, or months. I won't stop until I know he's dead.
