Chapter 0410
Seraphina sat huddled, knees drawn tightly to her chest. She looked utterly broken. Nothing remained of the bold, dramatic woman who had first arrived at our pack. All her confidence had vanished. But that didn't make her trustworthy.
"Has she said anything else?" I pressed.
Seraphina shook her head slowly. "Not really. Mostly she just cursed Lucas for what he did to her. She cried herself to sleep eventually."
"I can command her," Athena stated firmly. "I can order her to answer my questions. She won't be able to lie. Not now that the pack link is restored." I gestured toward Evelyn's cell.
Athena moved to the bars separating us from Evelyn. She took a deep, steadying breath. "Wake up!"
Evelyn jolted upright, automatically brushing her face as if expecting long hair. For a moment, I thought she might scream. Her grey eyes darted wildly around the dim dungeon. She scrambled backward against the wall, fear evident as she registered our presence.
"Get up," Athena's voice echoed commandingly through the dungeon.
Evelyn rose to her feet against her will. Her lips parted in silent shock. Her grey eyes frantically searched for an escape, realizing she had no control over her own body.
I watched, impressed. Athena wielded her power with quiet authority. She didn't flaunt it like others might.
"Evelyn Reed," she whispered through tears. "But you can call me Evie or Eve." It was the same introduction she'd given before. "You are a Lycan?"
"I was. I was drugged and now..."
"Who is Levi?" Athena pressed, cutting her off before she could finish.
Evelyn squeezed her eyes shut, tilting her face downward. Her cheeks flushed red as she fought against answering.
"Answer me!" Athena snapped.
"He is my brother," she blurted out. Her eyes widened in horror at her own admission.
Silence fell. We were all stunned by the revelation. None of us had anticipated this. Luc had believed they were mates, not siblings. 'Seriously?' Titan asked mentally. I gave a slight nod.
"WHAT?!" Seraphina shrieked from behind us. Evelyn's head snapped up, finally noticing Seraphina was awake. "You're his sister? You're his fucking sister!" Seraphina rattled the bars violently. "I'll kill you! I'll get out of here and kill you myself!"
"You are siblings?" Athena asked, ignoring Seraphina's outburst. I saw claws extending from her fingertips. She was ready to execute Evelyn.
Evelyn nodded miserably. "He is my older brother."
"So why did you come here, to Obsidian Howl?" I snarled.
She didn't resist answering this time. "Because he asked me to. I'm sorry, Seraphina. I wasn't... I... You were a good friend."
"You set me up! You brought me back knowing I'd be killed!" Seraphina shouted. "Be grateful these bars are between us!"
"I had to. He's my brother," Evelyn dropped to her knees, defeated.
Seraphina began pacing angrily. She muttered to herself, hands on her hips. At least her focus was off Athena now.
"What does Levi want?" Zachary asked Evelyn.
"I don't know."
"Tell the truth," Athena demanded.
"It is the truth. He asked me to convince Seraphina to show me where Obsidian Howl is. I don't know why." Tears streamed down her cheeks unchecked.
"I was in prison. That wasn't... I was out of control. Levi helped me. He had to do this to me before I became a danger to everyone."
"What does that mean?" Zachary frowned.
She shrugged helplessly. "That's what he always told me. He did it to look after me. To keep me safe. To protect me. He's good like that."
"She's delusional," Sebastian commented.
"So you were just on a farm, waiting for me?" Seraphina asked.
"Levi asked me to wait there. He said you would come my way. He wanted me to reassure you."
"Kill her!" Seraphina snapped. "Just fucking kill her already!"
Zachary gave her a warning glare, and she backed away from the bars. He turned back to Evelyn. "What did he do with Theodore?"
"Who is Theodore?"
"If Levi were to take someone, where would he go?" I questioned.
"You won't find him."
"Where will he go?" Athena snarled.
"I don't know. I don't keep tabs on him. He always contacts me when he needs something. How are you doing this to me?" "She is the Alpha," Zachary told her with a cold smile.
Athena's claws lengthened further. I pulled her back gently. She frowned at me. "I can kill her."
"As much as I like that idea, you can't. Not yet. If you kill her, he might kill Theodore."
