Chapter 0101

โ€œWhat now?โ€ I whispered, still accustomed to others having the solutions.

Isabella chuckled softly. โ€œAthena, since your arrival, Iโ€™ve watched your confidence grow day by day. You couldnโ€™t even step into the snow back then.โ€

She reminded me of the man Iโ€™d killed recently.

Then she pointed out Iโ€™d journeyed alone from the pack house to here.

Her gaze held mine. โ€œYou donโ€™t need my answers. You already know what to do.โ€

My shoulders slumped. โ€œCan we really solve this?โ€

โ€œMy brother has never been stopped by anything.โ€ Her voice was firm. โ€œIf your mind is set, heโ€™ll find a way. And Julianโ€ฆ heโ€™s a master of strategy. His advice could be valuable.โ€

I hesitated. โ€œAlpha Alexander forbade me from being alone with him.โ€

She smiled, gesturing around the empty hospital. โ€œIโ€™ll accompany you.โ€

She quickly located his whereabouts and scribbled a note, instructing others to link her if needed, then stuck it to the table.

โ€œWhere is he?โ€ I asked, recalling heโ€™d left during our meeting at Beta Sebastianโ€™s home with Sophia.

โ€œOn duty.โ€

Venturing into the forest without Alpha Alexanderโ€™s permission was definitely against the rules.

We moved silently into the woods. Isabella ensured we avoided the boundaries, guiding us deep into the darkest parts. Iโ€™d asked Nyx to block Alpha Alexander from my thoughts temporarily, just so I could think clearly.

Scents mingled among the trees, making it hard to distinguish individuals. The guards rotated constantly to stay alert and confuse any intruders.

โ€œDoes Alexander know youโ€™re this far out?โ€ Julianโ€™s voice came from above as he dropped from a tree, landing before us.

โ€œWhy were you up there?โ€ Isabella snapped.

โ€œTaking a page from Calebโ€™s book, if that was even his real name.โ€ His dark eyes fixed on me, sending a shiver down my spine. I was relieved not to be alone with him. โ€œYou wanted to speak to me?โ€ He scanned the area quickly.

โ€œHave youโ€ฆ found a way to handle them?โ€

โ€œAlmost. Do you have information that could help?โ€

Nyx whispered a warning in my mind.

โ€œI just want this to end.โ€ I noticed Isabella giving me a strange look, but she remained silent.

โ€œYou came all this way to ask that?โ€ He raised an eyebrow. โ€œMy people are exhausted, working tirelessly to keep everyone safe. Theyโ€™re starting to make mistakes.โ€

โ€œMistakes?โ€ Isabella questioned.

โ€œItโ€™s been dealt with.โ€ His glance at me suggested punishments had been carried out.

โ€œI never asked for any of this.โ€

He placed his hands on my shoulders, and every muscle in my body tensed. โ€œAre you seeking trouble, Athena?โ€

He turned me toward the direction weโ€™d come from. โ€œReturn to the house.โ€

โ€œIf I accept my Alpha position, will that help?โ€ The words spilled out.

His hands dropped, and he moved in front of me, frowning deeply. โ€œI thought you didnโ€™t want that?โ€

โ€œI told Alpha Alexander I believe itโ€™s what they expect.โ€ I sighed, glancing at Isabella, who nodded encouragement. โ€œI think itโ€™s a trap. Caleb was supposed to persuade me to accept. I thinkโ€ฆโ€ I groaned. โ€œAlpha Alexander believes I should link them one by one.โ€

โ€œNo.โ€

His immediate, firm response startled me.

โ€œNo, thatโ€™s not what they expect? Or no, Alexander is wrong?โ€ Isabella asked.

โ€œBoth.โ€ He winked at me.

โ€œI donโ€™t understand.โ€

โ€œCaleb got inside your head, Athena. He was testing how far youโ€™d go to ignore your Alpha blood. It was a game. Iโ€™ve seen it before. Youโ€™re unique. They know it, and we know it too.โ€

โ€œYou think she should accept her role?โ€ Isabella pressed.

โ€œThatโ€™s not my decision. But if she does, it could work to our advantage.โ€

โ€œYou want me to link them?โ€

โ€œNo. That would enrage Victoria. Itโ€™ll draw her and the others out. Like it or not, theyโ€™ll recognize who the true Alpha is. Thatโ€™s what counts. No linking necessary.โ€

โ€œPlan B,โ€ Isabella murmured.

โ€œPlan B,โ€ Julian confirmed.

Heโ€™d been hoping for this all along. โ€œWhatโ€ฆ what is Plan B?โ€

Julian smiled at me. โ€œYou.โ€
