Chapter 0306

Seraphina

"Look who's finally conscious!" A sharp fingertip digs into my chin, forcing my head upright.

My vision remains blurry at the edges, but I recognize that voice instantly. Levi Bennett. "Took you longer to recover than I anticipated."

A deep, radiating pain shoots down my spine. The tightness across my skin confirms the wound has only recently closed. I attempt to straighten my posture to ease the pressure, but I'm completely immobilized. My head lolls backward, hitting a solid wall behind me. The overwhelming urge to slip back into unconsciousness battles with my rising panic.

A hand pats my cheek roughly. "Wake up, you little slut."

"I..." What the hell did they inject me with? My skull throbs violently, making the spinal agony feel insignificant.

"What dosage did you use?" Levi shouts angrily. "She's still completely out of it."

"I doubled it to be safe," another man replies.

I blink repeatedly, trying to clear the blurriness. It only intensifies the pounding in my head.

"You moron. You were instructed to use the standard dose. We need her breathing!"

I try to swallow the lump forming in my dry throat. "Where am I..."

"Don't trouble your pretty little head with details, Seraphina Blackwood. Or should I call you Harrison?"

No matter how hard I strain, my vision refuses to focus. The sterile scent of the room fills my nostrils, but it gives no clues to my location. I can smell Levi and the Wolf from the bar. No one else. If I could just shift, I could tear them apart.

Their voices begin to echo, as if the room is expanding. My heart hammers against my ribs with terrifying force.

I'd been so distracted by my fated mate that I'd ignored everything else. I failed to see the danger approaching. Now I'm paying the price. I've lost my edge.

A hand strikes my cheek again. "Stay awake, Seraphina."

"Why?" I whisper. Why would my mate do this to me?

"Every Lycan and Wolf wants you dead. It would be a pity if you died like this."

He'd already met Athena. He wasn't heading to Obsidian Howl. He'd already been there.

"You... you don't understand..."

"That you crave her position?" He laughs darkly. "We know everything. Stepdaddy can't keep your secrets."

My heartbeat slows dangerously. My body slumps sideways, colliding with a cold wall.

"No, no. You don't get to sleep now."

"I'm not..." My breath comes in ragged gasps. I'm not getting enough oxygen.

"Shit!" He grabs my legs and yanks me down onto a mattress. A hand presses against my chest. "Her heart is failing. We need her alive." "I'm not a damn doctor!" the other man snarls back.

Something sharp pierces my chest. Darkness swallows me before I can utter another word.

I jolt awake with a gasp. My hands fly to my chest, checking my heartbeat. It's racing, but not dangerously. I'm alive. That's what matters.

I'm in a windowless white room. A toilet sits in one corner. The only other furniture is the bed I'm lying on. An IV drip is connected to my inner arm. A camera blinks in the top corner. I've been dressed in a plain white gown. Everything else has been stripped from me.

How long have I been here? Where am I?

The door swings open. Levi stands there, his large frame filling the doorway. "Look who decided to rejoin the living."

"Where am I?"

"That's not your concern."

"How long have I been here?" My back feels surprisingly good. No tightness from recent healing.

"Five weeks."

"Five weeks? Why are you doing this? We were mated before you rejected me."

"Funny what a special mixture can achieve."

I scramble off the bed, ready to attack. The IV tube tugs sharply at my arm, sending a jolt of pain through me.

"Careful. That's keeping you alive."

"Go to hell!" I rip the tube out and charge at him. I'm determined to fight with everything I have, but a sudden dizziness overwhelms me.

He catches me before I hit the floor and carries me back to the bed. He reinserts the IV just as other women's screams echo from somewhere. They're demanding to know where they are. What kind of place is this?
