Dane’s voice was gentle as he peeked into the bathroom. "Are you absolutely sure there’s nothing I can bring you?"

I shot him a sharp glare. My stomach twisted violently. He withdrew without another word. It was ironic. I could witness a foot being severed. I could help skin a man alive and tear out a heart without flinching. Yet the scent of roasted chicken made me vomit the little food I’d managed to keep down.
