Chapter 86
"Evelyn, feel free to ask us anything you don't understand. We'll share all our knowledge with you."
"Yes, yes! It's rare to see someone as talented as Evelyn being so humble."
The flattery echoing through the office made Hannah roll her eyes. She remembered clearly how these same people had whispered in the breakroom last week, calling Evelyn a "nepotism hire with no real skills."
Hannah smirked. "Oh, so now you're sucking up? Let me guessโyou've got your eyes on Evelyn's limited-edition Hermรจs?"
Their faces turned pale, but no one dared to retort.
Olivia smoothly maneuvered to Evelyn's side, linking arms with her. "Evelyn, darling, I know plenty of eligible bachelors. Would you like me to introduce you?"
She added meaningfully, "Like that gorgeous heir to the jewelry empire..."
Sebastian's sharp features flashed through Evelyn's mind. She shook her head instinctively. "No, thank you."
"What a shame." Olivia's eyes gleamed. She'd never seen a girl reject her brother so decisively.
Interesting.
Just as she was about to press further, Hannah barged in. "Evelyn, Alexander wants to see you."
In the CEO's office, Alexander slid a gilded invitation across the desk.
"The International Jewelry Design Awards. KL Group will be competing." His gaze burned into Evelyn. "I want you to represent our company."
Isabella's fingers clenched around her skirt hem.
She stared at that invitationโthis opportunity should have been hers!
"I'm not going." Evelyn's refusal was crisp.
Alexander frowned. "With your skills, winning would be effortless."
"Brother!" Isabella interrupted with a pout, tugging his sleeve. "Why only ask Evelyn?"
She forced a magnanimous smile. "If Evelyn doesn't want to go... may I have the spot instead?"
God knew how much hatred seethed beneath those words. Since Evelyn's return to the Roland family, Isabella had become invisible.
Now even her last chance to prove herself was being stolen!
Isabella lowered her lashes, hiding the jealousy swirling in her eyes. She would make everyone see who the true jewel of the Roland family was.
