Chapter 300
Sebastian Valdemar spoke calmly, "Uncle Vincent, don't worry. We're just checking some documents and will return soon."
Vincent Valdemar's forehead glistened with sweat, his chest rising and falling rapidly. "I understand young people have their own ideas. But the competition is still ongoing. If Miss Roland is absent too long as a contestant, it might raise eyebrows."
"Understood. We'll head back now." Sebastian gave a slight nod.
His words were half-truths. Rather than fearing outsiders' gossip, Vincent was more curious about what schemes his nephew and Evelyn Roland might be brewing.
After discovering some wine vats had been replaced with industrial alcohol, the two immediately realized someone was sabotaging the tasting event.
With no time to source enough high-quality wine to fill the gap, this flaw could plunge the entire competition into crisis.
On the way back, Vincent couldn't help but smirk at the thought of their helpless expressions.
He was eager to see what tricks Evelyn could possibly pull off to save the situation this time!
The first day's competition concluded amidst undercurrents of tension.
As the winery's partner, Sebastian accompanied Evelyn to arrange guest accommodations at the hotel for the next day.
As night deepened, he noticed her standing alone on the terrace, silently gazing at the distant coastline.
After a moment's hesitation, he approached.
"Don't worry too much about the wine," Sebastian said in a low voice. "Now that we've found the issue, we'll fix it in time. I'll contact some friends tonight to see if we can secure a batch of quality wine for emergency use."
The sea breeze tousled Evelyn's hair. At his words, a faint smileโrare for her typically cool demeanorโtouched her lips.
"You're helping me?" She turned to ask.
Sebastian seldom saw any expression on her face besides indifference. Now, her smile glowed vividly in the night, tightening his throat.
"Yeah," he managed stiffly.
Evelyn shook her head lightly. "I've already made arrangements."
She spoke truthfully. While everyone dispersed earlier, she'd immediately contacted an overseas friend who'd arranged for a shipment of premium wine via private jet without hesitation.
Watching her composed demeanor, Sebastian felt inexplicably irritated. This woman always stood alone, never needing anyone's aid.
The realization weighed heavily on his chest.
The next day's tasting event commenced as scheduled.
