Chapter 392
Sebastian Valdemar's lips curved into a smile, but his eyes remained icy cold.
"Vicious?" He repeated the word slowly, his long fingers tapping lightly on the table. "Did I just hear you gentlemen insulting the person who saved your lives?"
The pompous men instantly froze like strangled chickens, their faces flushing red as they coughed violently.
"Weโwe didn'tโ" The lead fat man stammered, sweat beading on his forehead.
Sebastian's smile deepened. "Oh? So I misheard?"
The tycoons exchanged panicked glances, wishing they could vanish into the floor. Neither admitting nor denying, they could only fidget awkwardly.
Evelyn Roland suddenly let out a soft laugh.
"Since you all called me vicious," she said idly adjusting her cuffs, "I suppose I should live up to the reputation."
Before anyone could react, she continued, "Without the antidote, the itching will seep from your skin into your bones."
"You're lying!" The fat man's voice cracked as he jerked his head up.
The moment he spoke, the men suddenly convulsed as if electrocuted, clawing frantically at their bodies.
"It burns! Help!"
"I can't stand it!"
They leaped around like crazed monkeys, the scene both absurd and pitiful.
Master Xingyun closed his eyes in prayer, while Alice Flores smirked. "Serves you right!"
"Sister..." Isabella Langley stepped forward with red-rimmed eyes. "They've learned their lesson. Please help them..."
Evelyn arched a brow. "Are you suggesting I repay malice with kindness?"
"That's notโ" Isabella's tears fell in rapid drops.
"Tears lose their value when overused." Evelyn's casual remark made the female guests exchange knowing looks.
Isabella's face paled, then flushed with humiliation.
"Master Xingyun," Evelyn turned to the abbot. "I intend to conduct a thorough inspection of the temple to eliminate all venomous insect hazards."
"What?" Isabella gasped before hastily covering her mouth.
Master Xingyun clasped his hands. "The entire monastery will assist you, benefactor."
At those words, Isabella's face drained of all color.
