Chapter 238

Evelyn Roland had just set down her water glass when her phone screen lit up.

Silas Eisner's name flashed across the display.

"Hello?"

"Evelyn, I've made a new discovery." Silas's voice was warm and polite. "I've compiled all the documents. When would be a good time for you to review them?"

Evelyn glanced at Sebastian Valdemar sitting across from her, recalling his earlier warning.

"I'm tied up at the moment." Her fingers tapped lightly on the table. "Bring the files to this address."

After hanging up, she quickly sent him her location.

Within half an hour, the doorbell rang.

Silas stood at the entrance, arms laden with thick stacks of documents. Sunlight streamed in behind him, casting a golden halo around his silhouette.

"Evelyn." He stepped inside with a smile, but his gaze immediately landed on Sebastian.

Sebastian's expression darkened instantly.

"Drop it and leave." He tossed the icy command over his shoulder before heading upstairs.

Evelyn accepted the files and began flipping through them.

Silas settled onto the sofa, casually surveying the villa's decor. His eyes lingered on the two water glasses on the coffee table, the corner of his mouth lifting almost imperceptibly.

"I'll take my leave now." He rose to go.

Evelyn gave a distracted nod without looking up.

The moment Silas departed, Sebastian descended the stairs.

"Right on schedule?" Evelyn arched a brow.

Without a word, Sebastian retrieved a bottle of disinfectant spray from the cabinet and doused the spot where Silas had sat.

"Was that necessary?" She fought back a laugh.

Only then did he seem satisfied, taking a seat and sipping from his glass.

Suddenly, a piercing alarm shattered the villa's tranquility!

Both sprang to their feet.

"Intruders." Sebastian's eyes turned razor-sharp.

Evelyn swiftly stuffed the documents between the couch cushions.

The alarm cut off abruptly.

"What happened?"

"They disabled it." Before Sebastian could finish, the front door burst open with a crash.

A brown-haired foreigner with piercing green eyes swaggered inside.

Sebastian immediately shielded Evelyn with his body.

"Who let you in?"

The man grinned, revealing unnaturally white teeth.

"Hand over the Divine Elixir."

His Mandarin carried a thick accent.

"What elixir?" Evelyn feigned ignorance.

Outside, a dozen shadowy figures closed in.
