Chapter 366
"I have no influence over the Roland Group's affairs."
Owen Valrose's face darkened instantly. This adopted daughter was utterly useless.
"No power? Then just give me money!" He held up five fingers. "This amount."
Isabella Langley's pupils constricted. "Five hundred thousand?"
"Fifty million!" Owen sneered. "For a spoiled heiress like you, that's just pocket change."
Pocket change? Isabella nearly ground her teeth to dust.
"If you don't pay today, you're not leaving this room." Owen's smile turned sinister. "We're capable of anything."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"Seems you don't know us well enough."
Owen tossed a document onto the table. The words "Paternity Test" burned Isabella's eyes.
"Go ahead, tear it up. I made a dozen copies." He crossed his legs leisurely.
"You're monsters!"
"Isabella, we're desperate." Lydia Valrose fake-wiped her tears.
Isabella clenched her fists. "Fine. I'll pay. But if one word of my origins leaks out, I'll make your lives hell."
"Words mean nothing. Sign this." Owen produced another contract like a magician.
Isabella signed with a cold laugh and stormed out, slamming the door.
Owen stroked the agreement, grinning from ear to ear.
Back home, Isabella pummeled a pillow until feathers flew. Fifty million! Where would she get that kind of money?
At dinner, she eagerly served Sophia and Edward Roland.
"Mom, Dad, I'd like to start working at the company."
"The company?"
A crisp female voice came from the doorway. Evelyn Roland leaned against the frame, smirking.
"Sister!" Isabella's chopsticks clattered to the floor.
"Just came back for something." Evelyn's gaze swept over her sister's face. "Perfect timing, it seems."
