Chapter 147

The crowd outside the library grew larger. Evelyn Roland's brows furrowed slightly.

She yanked Victoria Lowell's ID badge, her voice barely above a whisper. "Victoria, do you really want to make a scene here?"

Her fingertip traced the words "Librarian" on the badge.

Victoria stumbled back, the lanyard digging into her neck. She raised her voice deliberately. "What? Think you're special just because you know Sebastian Valdemar?"

Every student turned to stare.

Two design majors pushed to the front, studying Evelyn's face intently.

"Wait... Aren't you the one who asked that question at Sebastian's lecture last semester?"

"Oh my god! I remember now! She's Celadon! I've seen her profile photo in the magazine!"

The crowd erupted into murmurs.

Victoria's face twisted. "That's ridiculous! She doesn't even have a high school diploma!"

A bespectacled girl suddenly lifted her phone. "The International Design Association's website has Celadon's profile. The photo matches!"

Sunlight glinted off the screen, clearly displaying Evelyn's official headshot alongside a long list of accolades.

"Judge for the KIO Awards..."

"Youngest gold medalist in Asia-Pacific..."

"Creator of the Shattered Stars Collection..."

Whispers rippled through the gathering.

Victoria's nails dug into her palms. She snatched Evelyn's student ID. "Even if she's Celadon, school rules stateโ€”"

"School rules also prohibit staff from abusing their power," Evelyn cut in smoothly. "Shall I pull up last year's librarian recruitment exam scores?"

Victoria's hand jerked. The ID fell to the ground.

Evelyn bent to retrieve it, flicking the card with her finger. "Ranked 37th. Written exam score: 52. The cutoff was 65."

The crowd exploded.

"Seriously? How did she get hired?"

"I'm reporting this to the dean!"

"Nepotism hires don't belong at Stanford!"

Victoria's face turned ashen. She staggered backward.

Evelyn pocketed her ID and walked into the library without looking back. Behind her, voices called out, "Celadon! Senior Celadon!" She merely waved a hand in acknowledgment.

As the glass doors closed, Victoria's tearful shriek pierced the air. "Do you know who my father is?"

Laughter drowned out her words.
