Chapter 423

Victor Galatea observed his daughter's distracted expression with perfect clarity.

The girl was clearly smitten with Sebastian Valdemar.

He sipped his tea, masking his complicated emotions.

"The collaboration is finalized. Valdemar Group just needs to send someone to sign the documents. The lab will be operational soon."

"Let me handle it!"

Scarlett Galatea blurted out eagerly, her eyes sparkling.

Victor felt a pang of sourness watching his daughter like this.

"That Sebastian has poor health. I heard he's hospitalized frequently."

"So he gets treatment. What's the big deal?"

Scarlett's cheeks warmed as she recalled Sebastian carrying her that day.

"Dad, you didn't see how he held me. If not for him, my leg would've been ruined from that fall!"

Victor remained silent.

"Do as you wish. You won't listen until you hit a wall."

He sighed inwardly. Sebastian was indeed an outstanding young man with a clean family background. If this worked out, it would be a good match.

At least there wouldn't be any mother-in-law conflicts.

Victor had already started mentally drafting wedding invitations.

Meanwhile, Sebastian had just finalized the autism research project when he video-called Evelyn Roland.

8:30 PM. Evelyn had just stepped out of the shower.

Water droplets slid down her damp hair, swirling at her collarbone before disappearing beneath her robe.

She grabbed a towel to dry her hair while reaching for a bottled water from the fridge.

Her phone vibrated suddenly.

Sebastian's impossibly handsome face filled the video call screen.

"Mr. Valdemar has free time today?"

She propped the phone on the coffee table, continuing to towel her hair. This was his fourth call today.

"Evelyn, I miss you."

Sebastian stared intently at the screen, his gaze burning.

"We literally woke up in the same bed this morning."

He coughed, his ears turning slightly pink.

"Victor Galatea proposed an autism research project. I accepted."

"Scarlett's father?"

Evelynn arched an eyebrow.

"Yes."

"Need my help?"

Her tone was strictly professional.

"No, focus on your work."

Sebastian shook his head. Though she'd successfully treated Theodore's autism, he wouldn't guilt her into helping.

There were too many children in this world needing assistance.
