Chapter 68

Dorian Wayne's knuckles turned white as he clenched his fists. He had worked diligently at the company for ten years without a single mistake. Now, he was about to lose his job over some insignificant girl.

"Mr. Roland, have you forgotten the value I've brought to this company?" His voice trembled. "All for the sake of Evelyn Roland?"

Alexander Roland's gaze was sharp as a blade. "When you used your position to help Jessica Rubinstein steal trade secrets, did you ever consider your so-called value?"

Dorian Wayne's face drained of color. He hadnโ€™t expected this to come to light.

"Get out." Alexander's voice was ice.

Dorian Wayne suddenly burst into hysterical laughter. "You're all bewitched by that vixen! Alexander Roland, you'll regret this!"

Benjamin Chamberlain immediately stepped forward, gripping Dorian Wayne's shoulder and dragging him out.

The stairwell fell silent again. Alexander turned to Evelyn, his voice softening. "I'm sorry you had to witness that."

Outside the door, Sebastian Valdemar leaned against the wall, his fingers tapping lightly against the marble surface. He could hear the faint rustle of fabric from inside.

The elevator dinged open. Jessica Rubinstein rushed out, her hair disheveled, a glint of steel flashing in her hand.

"Die!" she shrieked, lunging at Evelyn.

Evelyn's pupils constricted. She instinctively sidestepped, but the blade still grazed her shirt, drawing a crimson bloom of blood.

"Watch out!" Alexander moved like lightning.

Jessica attacked again like a rabid dog. Evelyn gritted her teeth, preparing to counterโ€”

A crisp scent of cedar suddenly enveloped her. Sebastian appeared out of nowhere, pulling her into his arms.

"You bitch!" Jessica brandished the fruit knife wildly. "I'll kill you!"

Sebastian's eyes darkened. With one hand, he twisted Jessica's wrist. The knife clattered to the ground as she cried out in pain, collapsing to her knees.

Security finally arrived, restraining the still-struggling Jessica.

Sebastian looked down at the girl in his arms. Her lashes fluttered, blood seeping from the wound at her waist. Just as he was about to release her, Alexander yanked Evelyn away.

"To the hospital," Alexander said tightly.

"No need," Evelyn shook her head. "It's just a scratch."

Sebastian narrowed his eyes. The intimacy between them inexplicably irritated him. "Mind your behavior in public," he said coldly.

Alexander quickly released her, realizing his lapse. "Thank you, Mr. Valdemar."

"Don't mention it." Sebastian turned to leave but paused at the corner. He heard Alexander murmur, "Evelyn, donโ€™t come to the company alone again."
