Chapter 451
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Evelyn Roland's lips curved slightly, amusement flickering in her eyes. "Do I seem like the petty type?"
Scarlett Galatea's matter truly didn't weigh on her mind. Since Sebastian Valdemar had spoken up, and it involved a life-or-death situation, she wasn't about to make a fuss over something so trivial. Unless, of course, the other party crossed a line.
Seeing Evelyn's composed expression, the tension in Sebastian's shoulders finally eased.
"Shall we go?"
As he stood, his black dress shirt accentuated his tall, lean frame. The collar was slightly open, revealing a glimpse of his collarbone. Those usually stern eyes now brimmed with tenderness.
"Mmm." Evelyn gave a slight nod, casually gathering her long hair.

In the hospital corridor, Scarlett stared blankly at her phone screen.
She hadn't expected Sebastian to actually agree. The realization made her lips curl upward unconsciously.
"He's not... completely indifferent to me after all."
The thought of that man sent a pang of bitterness through her heart. Why did Evelyn get to monopolize someone like him? Just because she met him first?
"Miss?" Mrs. Lefรจvre called out worriedly, only to frown at the smile on Scarlett's face.
"Huh?" Scarlett snapped out of her daze and quickly explained, "I contacted a highly skilled doctor. Grandma will be saved."
"You've worked hard, miss." Mrs. Lefรจvre's expression softened.
Scarlett stood to leave but froze after two steps at the sound of approaching footsteps.
"Sebastian..."
Her face lit up, only to stiffen the moment she spotted Evelyn. Her smile turned to ice.
"Miss Galatea." Evelyn spoke first, her tone neutral.
Scarlett clenched her fists, nails digging into her palms. "Miss Roland is here too?"
"Yes."
Evelyn swiftly tied up her hair, revealing her smooth forehead. She pulled out a medical license from her bag, flashing it briefly. "Shall we see the patient first?"
"What?" Scarlett's pupils contracted. She instinctively took half a step back.
"Don't worry." Evelyn waved the license. "Fully certified."
Scarlett stared at the document, her lashes fluttering rapidly.
"Where's the patient?" Evelyn met her gaze directly, her eyes clear and unwavering.
Scarlett bit her lip. "No need to trouble yourself. I know Miss Roland's skills are exceptional, but my grandmother's condition... is rather unique."
The refusal couldn't have been clearer.
"Very well." Evelyn tucked the license away without hesitation. "Then I won't intrude."
