Chapter 278

Howard Merouin struggled to his feet, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth. He spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, a broken tooth mixed in.

Just as he was about to leave, he suddenly stopped.

Turning around, he charged upstairs and barged into Theodore's room.

"You little brat, come with me!" He yanked Theodore up roughly. The child trembled at the sight of his blood-covered body, squeezing his eyes shut in fear.

The moment they stepped outside, they collided with Sebastian Valdemar.

"Stay back!" Howard shoved Theodore aside and pulled out a fruit knife from his pocket. "Get me a car to the airport, or elseโ€”"

Before he could finish, Sebastian lunged forward.

"Ah!" Howard screamed as his wrist was kicked at an unnatural angle. Theodore seized the chance to break free and scrambled into Sebastian's car.

Kneeling on the ground, Howard clutched his fractured wrist, howling in pain.

"Even a child wasn't spared." Sebastian's voice was icy. "I've already handed over all your overseas cases to the police."

Sirens wailed in the distance.

Howard collapsed, unconscious.

In the hospital corridor, Evelyn Roland stared at the numbers on the monitor and exhaled slightly in relief.

Olivia Valdemar's condition had finally stabilized.

"Give me the medication." She reached out for the bottle the nurse handed her.

Just as she was about to administer it, her brows furrowed.

"This isn't the right drug!" Her voice sharpened. "It's been switched!"

The nurse paled. "Iโ€”I didn't knowโ€”"

"Go get the correct one!" Another nurse reacted swiftly, sprinting away.

Minutes later, the surgery was completed successfully.

Leaning against the wall to catch her breath, Evelyn suddenly remembered something and rushed to the surveillance room.

On the way, she ran into Alexander Roland. Together, they pulled up the security footage.

The screen showed a woman in a nurse's uniform sneaking in and tampering with the medication.

"Isabella Langley!" Evelyn slammed her fist on the table.

They raced downstairs just as Isabella was attempting to leave.

Slap! A sharp crack echoed through the hallway.

Isabella clutched her cheek, tears instantly welling up. "Third Brother, she hit me!"

"It's all on camera." Alexander's voice was frigid. "Still denying it?"

"I didn't do anything!" Isabella sobbed dramatically, though her eyes darted nervously. "You're framing me!"

Evelyn grabbed her collar and yanked her forward. "You nearly killed someone!"
